Man, your kid is so me. I freakin' loved the scout troopers as a kid too. Thought they were the coolest thing, and I wanted to ride one of those bikes so bad.

clone wars and rebels are my favorite star wars content, and it's not particularly close.

clone wars can be a bit of a slog, there's more seasons (7) and over 130 episodes, luckily the episodes are all in that 24 minute range.

you're able to watch them in chronological order (though they aren't presented that way in the episode list; https://www.starwars.com/news/star-w...l-episodeorder), or watch it more like an anthology and watch specific arcs.

with that many episodes and story lines, some are much stronger than others. but there's some great stuff with the maul story lines, nightsisters of dathomir, mandalorian politics (and an obi-wan love story), and of course ahsoka is prominently featured throughout, including the final 4 episodes of the show, which were amazing.

rebels has a more cohesive overarching story and seasons 3&4 are really strong and mandalore heavy.

New teaser aired during Monday Night Football: https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=ICuqzhViWAI

Seems like they’re holding a lot back, and I’m ok with that.

Sasha Banks was on New Day's podcast this week, and she didn't say a word about her role (obviously) but she doesn't know anything about the story outside of her role. That was about it. She also cried because she is in freakin' Star Wars, which I'm sure anyone would lose their shit if they could have a part in this franchise.

She HAS to be Sabine Wren, right?

That's what I keep thinking, which is a huge role.

She has the look for it, and her age is pretty close. Sabine was probably in her late teens in Rebels, and Mandalorian is probably set about 10 years later. Sasha Banks is 28, so the age window she could play would be around what Sabine's age would be.

And Sabine is a Mandalorian that was linked to the darksaber. Maybe we'll see Lothal again too.

If you don't mind animated stuff, watch Clone Wars and Rebels. Some really neat galaxy-building stuff in both shows with enough ties to the OT and prequels to satisfy that familiar itch.

yeah there's a lot of "filler" for lack of a better term in clone wars, but a bunch of great arcs. final four episodes are incredible.

I tried to watch Clone Wars. Ran out of time, and don’t have the will to binge it. From those that know the story, would this list of Clone Wars and Rebels episodes be enough? https://www.gamesradar.com/mandalori...odes-to-watch/

Anything absolutely essential you would add?

I tried a while back to get into Clone Wars and didn't like it, but I just recently tried again after I found a watch list/watch order that had about half the episodes cut (including most of Season 1). I absolutely loved it this time. My favorite arcs involved Ahsoka, especially the final 4 episodes arcs in season 5 and season 7 (the latter of which actually includes order 66 from a different perspective).

I like Clone wars better than the prequels, it's really good.

I'm watching Rebels now, into season 3 and enjoying it too. Maybe not quite as much as Clone Wars, but we'll see.

that list mostly covers the mandalore related stuff. as long as you’re cool with just accepting the fact that maul is alive and kicking and not asking any questions about how and why, because he’s involved in a few of those episodes.

I would add episodes 11 and 12 of season 7 of clone wars, if you’re already watching 9 and 10. that 4 episode stretch to finish off the series is excellent.

seasons 3 and 4 of rebels really jump to the level with the best arcs of clone wars

The first two episodes of S2 of Rebels are crazy good and we get some serious Vader being a badass moments. S3 and S4 take it to the next level, especially if you like Thrawn.

This show is everything. The final battle sequence is the best Star Wars content fans could ask for. The effects and production value are out of this world.

the show is not going to win any acting or writing awards, which of course is pretty much par for the course with star wars, but i agree that this show is everything that i hoped a star wars show could be. clearly it is in good hands with favreau and filoni. i enjoyed this new episode immensely, and frankly it was just nice to escape to the 'familiar' confines of tatooine and get immersed in the world there after everything that has happened this year. even just the long speeder shots across the landscape were impressive and a welcome inclusion.
