Camden N2, Sect 100...Thank you!
After 100+ shows, friends/family ask me why I spend so much time and money continuing to go back and see this band. My experience last night is one of the many reasons why this fan base means so much to me. I had the chance to bring my oldest son (6) to his very first DMB show. He has been a fan of their music for a few years, and listens to them each night before bed. While I got the expected "WTF are you bringing a young kid to a show" looks throughout, this was nevertheless something that I knew my son would enjoy and the memory will hopefully last him a lifetime.
At any rate, my son has been talking all week about getting one of Carter's stix after the show, so he made his poster and I kept my fingers crossed. Throughout the show, the generosity of those around us was inspiring and gives true hope in humanity. People were so nice my boy, and all said many times how they were pulling for him to get his drumstick. So the moment came, and the kind couple behind offered their support in helping me catch it. Carter immediately saw the sign, I put my son down off my shoulders, and proceeded to catch it. The love and enthusiasm from those around us was amazing...from the security guard, to the couple I mentioned before, and the great folks down from CT beside us, the hugs and high fives given to my son are truly what keeps me coming back to these shows year after year. If any of you happen to read this, the experience was one that my kid will never forget. More important than the drumstick to him was the "friends" he made last night.
Thanks again!
