Re: The Corner of Grey Street Podcast

Great job with the Matt Norlander pod. Got me now off listening to Matt's interviews with Lillywhite on BTCS. A Lillywhite Sessions interview is a must!!

The topic of Blue Water Baboon Farm is just top-notch podcasting, and hit everything right on the nail regarding some of the most frustrating parts of this band (re: how very few/no other bands will just play teases the way DMB does). I was lucky enough to catch a "full" D&T Blue Water, which included the jam, but to be able to see a real BWBF that approaches 10 minutes...It's something that SHOULD happen, but likely never will.

Anyways, keep up the great work guys! I'm honestly more excited to see the off-season stuff you guys have in store!
Yea, he was great and is so knowledgable and is obviously a pro at this thing haha

to the bold, so are we

I like how you can tell where these guys stand on a song -

    Um... yeah.
    oooh.
    OH!

    and the topper...

    OHHHHHHH BAAABBBBY!

I highly highly recommend this episode. By far the best one in my opinion and the info given by their correspondent is definitely not information that is "known" to the public.

It definitely was cool learning some things even we had never heard before. That’s what keeps this stuff so refreshing and fun.

So.. the next time a song like smooth rider is slated, we need to figure out how to intercept the signal and slip in a Dodo or Blue Water.

So today's episode contains a history segment of a show I attended, and it's stellar.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy, I can't wait for my road trip this afternoon on this one.

So, If you that like Daniel Lanois songs not named the Maker, and great guests on electric guitar... this is one you'll want to listen to. Having said that, I'm assuming it will make the sample list on the discussion.

But I've said too much already.

    Go people.

    Just go listen.

Right now. (I would if I could soak it in properly).

I just checked out this podcast for the first time, and the conversation with Matt Norlander was excellent. He's got a good approach to the band and talking about the positives and shortcomings. I really, really hope he's able to do an episode with Steve about the Lillywhite Sessions.

I'm looking forward to listening to the Gorge episode.

Did not disappoint boys, another great show... DRH is the man and I love his style of guitar playing. He's got some great solo stuff people should check out.

On John Mayer 'opening'.. he was not part of the main billing at all. That was just Vertical Horizon. I didn't know he 'opened' at all until I heard you say it. They really didn't do two opening bands, so I'm pretty sure he played at a side stage out in the plaza. That was typically something arranged by the venue. Mayer was based in Atlanta at the time (as was DRH and they met there), and DRH was part of his band. Harris got on Dave Matthews's radar back in the 90's when he was part of Dionne Farris' band and they used to open shows for DMB. So he probably just called and asked if he could pop backstage or something, and they brought him out.

If I'm wrong about the side stage thing, maybe someone else that was there and saw them play can correct me, but i'm pretty certain that's where they played. Mayer hadn't blown up yet.

Harris has been in and out of John's band. I know he has been a touring guitarist with Hanson recently. He moved to LA between 02 & 03. He still does some solo touring every now and again.

DRH is on tour with Mayer right now. I just saw them Saturday night in LA. He has been a part of Mayer's touring band since '07 I believe.

He’s taken a break or two. Might be because DRH was unavailable.. took a tour gig with another act while John wasn’t touring or something and they overlapped. He was there in the early days, and then got back in it around the time frame you mention.
