My 2 year old loves the cream puffs from a local bakery. We stopped in yesterday and a woman was helping a couple of teenage girls. That didn't deter my daughter, who walked right up to the glass case and yelled, "COULD YOU GET ME A CREAM PUFF PLEASE. I WANT THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE."

Everyone got a good laugh out of it. I was just glad she said please.

We know a couple who opened a donut shop in our little downtown, about a mile from our house, so we go there frequently. They only do mini donuts, and that's all our 2 year old knows for donuts. She loves going and saying "my donut!" which is usually the fruity pebbles one. And they have a window where you can watch them hand make each one.

Congrats man. That part was the best, bringing the new one home.

Poor girl didn't know what happened. She went to bed Friday night and later that evening my wife decided to call her doctor about cramping, and the doctor said go ahead and head to the hospital, so we did around midnight. When our 2yo woke up, she had her grandmother there, and then later she'd have her grandfather and her other grandparents for the next two days (which she probably loved and didn't care much). I think we tried to get her on a facetime once but it was difficult for her to understand.

When we came home late Monday evening though she was so excited to see and hold the new baby.

    We've always used this;
    https://www.amazon.ca/Ombrelle-Sunsc.../dp/B07L4C3DHR

SUPER easy to apply and rubs in really quickly/easily. Not greasy afterwards at all.

Thinkbaby. Made by the same folks who make ThinkSport. None of the skin irritants that others screens have, and excellent UV protection.

What age? My first, when he was 18m-2y would bite people constantly.

It ended up being a larger speech problem as he was speech delayed and had apraxia.

Got him into speech therapy twice a month and he doesn’t stop talking now and you can see he isn’t frustrated anymore. The biting stemmed from being frustrated not being able to communicate.

Just my example. Probably isn’t this.

as a former behavior specialist, you're right. Behavior ALWAYS has a root cause. In his case it was his frustration due to the speech issue

For Tid, it might be an inability to communicate or verbalize feelings. Biting can start as experimental, but if it continues and becomes a problem, it's likely due to frustration with communication OR attention seeking

Best strategy for behavior is A (antecedent) B (behavior) C (consequence)

Find out what happens just before your child bites (A)- what causes him to do this? Biting is the behavior. Then find out what his consequence is- a consequence is ANY reaction....does he get attention, does he get his point across (communication), does he get 1:1 attention with whoever is in charge, does he get to avoid an unwanted task, etc

Our son was an extreme biter. Kicked out of one daycare and nearly a second. We tried everything we could find, including therapy. You know how weird it is to take a 2 year old to therapy?

I think he just finally stopped, I really can't put my finger on what triggered the change.

Now we are still trying to get him to crap on the toilet and it's a terrible struggle. But at least no other kids are getting hurt.

This was likely our problem too, along with severe sensory issues.

the kid never stops talking now.

@mposey - agreed and I forgot to mention we had a speech issue along with a huge sensory issue.

Now he thinks he’s Johnny Carson. Talks 24/7. Lol.

Just my example. Probably isn’t this.

2.5, started around 2. I'm glad there is confidentiality, because he's so young but we know some parents would be less understanding than others if their kid gets bit at daycare.

His general chewing we have slowed. He used to chew on his clothes, his stuffed animals, anything. We bought him toddler chew toys and in general he's gotten better.

Agree that's its always in moments of frustration. He can talk pretty well, but when he goes into these frustration Modes, he loses his voice and it is all emotions and acting out. Easier to handle with two parents both working to get him out of it and to relax and use his words.

Harder for teachers where it is 2 teachers for 8 kids. But they are working VERY hard and are cutting us a lot of breaks and leeway. In a more strict daycare, I think our poor little guy would have been kicked out.
