Yeah it does, with the holding back the years outro. It should be in regular rotation every few years, never understood why it didn't get more play. They should do it into bef. I'd be down with iihia>holding>bef>bartender....that's unrealistic though.

Spaceman is one of my all-time favorite DMB tunes, not just from the current era.

And agree with whoever said LITHOG is super underrated. Big 3 tunes? UnToUcHaBlE gEnIuS. Everything else? Only good if they’re rare

I really don't know. I think hearing the opening drum thing and knowing Spacebread was coming like 15 times from 2009-2012 completely soured the experience for me. The chorus also sucks. "I love the way you fuck me baby" is as bad as any line Dave has ever shit out.

Speaking of, here's a fun fact: The first time I heard the lyric "thought I saw a Spaceman trying to get laid" I actually got douche chills.

Another fun fact: I was in the Camden Pit, which was an absolute shit show, in 2014. They opened the electric set with Spaceman and you could hear a pin drop.

It's a 0/10, which is an exclusive list for me. Spaceman and Plastic Girl are my only 0/10's. Plastic Girl being killed quickly makes it the second worst.

Agreed and I was fortunate to catch Stanley Jordan (Hartford N1 2012) and Branford Marsalis (Hartford 2015) both guest on it to try to salvage the horrible jam session and those legends couldn't save it. To me it comes down to how bad the jam is and while it is a 9to 10 minute song live it feels like it takes up 45 minutes of the set.

And speaking on the unpopular opinion about mercy the same issue used to lie in that boring jam to nowhere.

The buddy strong era debut of Mercy is 10 times better than the 10-15 minute versions from 2012-13 i suffered through. Mercy and Sweet and Rooftop were able to be saved by changes to how they were played live but Spaceman is a chick that can't be saved she belongs to the streeeets!

Buddy Strong Mercy from that WH disc was soooo good. I wish they'd perform it like that always.

This is a great point. If it was a 4 minute SMLAM type of song where it's over in a blink, maybe it gets to be a 2/10...but it's an 8 minute song that goes absolutely nowhere. One of the rarest instances of adding a jam to a studio cut that made it even worse live .

The best part about Spaceman is the 9 second Tim Solo at the end that signifies that a better song should be coming soon....even if it IS Cornbread. At least people will actually cheer.
