From above, looks like subway/mass transit/light rail, etc. is doable. I won't have a car. Seems like I can do the whole weekend with everything being so close.

Any first time tips?
If price isn’t a big issue, there are a handful of hotels right in Philadelphia City Hall area, which is a perfect hub where you’re walking distance from all the historical sites, the restaurant district, 8 and market station where you can catch the PATCO into Camden. It’s a great place to be if you want to explore Philly.

Also DO NOT do the Constitution museum, it’s worthless.

How is Pit v. Reserved? Debating whether to just go for reserves or keep Pit as an option?

Based on what everybody here says, pit sucks. Too packed in. But I've always opted for reserve seating for myself at all venues (I like a beer, a piss and a sit now and again. "Too old for this shit" etc)

Does Philly fill up with DMB fans for the weekend? Or is this more of a commuter type of venue?

    So, pit bad, seats good?

Hmmm, might have to tweak our order. We had pits for two shows in 2019 (Hartford & SPAC) and couldn't find anyone to swap for seats. It worked out, but we're not feeling good about the pit right now.

One caveat I'll throw in there is that there's usually a lot of demand for Camden so if you go seats, you may be disappointed with your location. Getting pit obviously guarantees you'll be close

There's certainly plenty of fans from the Jersey area that drive to the Camden shows without setting foot in Philly, which by that definition would make it a commuter-type venue.

Also it's definitely not like SPAC or Charlottesville where the whole area celebrates DMB being in town, with local businesses getting involved in the fun. If that's what you're envisioning or hoping for you won't find it in Philly....but the city is awesome with plenty of places to eat, drink, and be merry! You won't regret experiencing a Camden/Philly two nighter!

Alright Camden crew, especially Philly experts, planning a prelude to Camden weekend in a couple weeks. Found a great place to stay in Washington Square area. All set with places for tasty brews and what not, but looking for favs for wonderful Italian or a good steak...or heck, maybe a combo of both. I know this trip isn't Camden related but I am staying in the same area when I return in July, so I promise to use the info then too!

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Del Frisco's is certainly the most famous/popular steak joint in Philly, though I believe it's pretty expensive (can't remember, haven't been there in a decade or more). It was a bank back in the day so it's pretty cool.

Don't have much of a good recommendation for Italian. Maggiano's maybe? There's also a million BYOs that I'm sure most are good you can look up

HA! yes we will likely grab one of those sandwiches for lunch, but I mean a big full on steak dinner or Italian dinner place after our day of beverages. Nice rib eye and some red or a plate of pasta with the same.

Thank you, we definitely will walk through the Market if not this trip in July. What a great spot for tailgate supplies!

Dalessandros or bust! And don’t overlook RTM in general, some great food in there!

For the out of towners, some restaurant/food/drink recs:

Guiginos - fine Italian dining. Don’t sit by the kitchen, it gets loud.

Philadelphia Java company - good coffee. The waitress behind the counter is cute.

Chinatown always has fun stuff going on. Guys throwing fish and one time I saw a guy save a man’s life from choking. It made the news.

And, if you want a dive bar, try Paddy’s Pub.

My favorite place for cheesesteaks and pizza when we lived in the city was Lazaro's. Don't bother with Pat's or Geno's. Wildly overrated.

Favorite beer bars (there's a million great ones, I'll try to pare it down): Monk's Cafe, McGillin's, Sidecar, Kraftwork, Varga Bar, Dandelion, Independence Beer Garden (can't go wrong with any of the beer gardens honestly), Craft Hall (especially if you have kids)

Best Italian ('Special') hoagie is outside the city, Phil & Jim's in Parkside (Delco). I know that's not helpful if you're staying in the city, sorry about that.

how is traffic getting to the venue coming from the north/east? i usually go through philly, but this year for n2 i will be near the delaware water gap to pick up a friend and then needing to get to cherry hill pre-show, so thinking about just crossing over into jersey up north and going through nj instead of the pa turnpike. its like 20 minutes longer, but i'm thinking avoiding all the philly traffic would be worth it, unless nj is a mess too.

Man that place does look delicious! While I am sure we will have a cheesesteak, a nice giant ribeye...

Might have to find a little more in the budget and splurge!

People trade in and out of the pit all the time. Use the ticket exchange.

You can also try to get instants when they become available

That drive isn’t bad at all. Really very scenic and calm until you get closer to the Trenton area
