I'm kind of glad I benched him. Given my luck this year, he surely would've wrecked if I'd started him.

Yeah I selected him as one of my B drivers but benched him in favor of Kurt Busch. Won the week either way.

Matt Kenseth just admitted during a morning press conference that it's unlikely he'll be driving for JGR next year.

Definitely adds fuel to the rumor that he'll be driving for the #88 team in 2018 as a one year placeholder for William Byron.

This was a tough one because there are some drivers that have a good run going right now- Newman and Kurt are two that are running very consistently recently I would be surprised if Newman is up in that top 4 or 5 at the end. And someone like Jimmie Johnson can surprise again- didnt hear much from him all season long last year and see what happens in the playoffs?

It definitely makes it interesting but it is bullshit. And you know the majority of these drivers do not want to race here to begin with. NASCAR doesn't see that though. They see money signs.

So happy for the Jersey boy! I grew up racing quarter midgets at Wall Township Speedway. It was really cool to hear him give the track a shoutout last night! He was the best driver all year and is a great champion for the sport.

Dale Jr, thanks for the ride! I remember meeting him just before he broke into the Bush series back in the 1990's in NYC for the awards dinner. My mother called him over, got his autograph and told him "you won't be able to walk through this hotel lobby unnoticed in a few years!" She could not have been more right about that. I am very happy for him and I totally support his decision to walk away now with his family!


Wouldn't it be something is Danica won the Daytona 500 or Indy 500 next year

I drove by there a couple months ago when I was up that way with my fiance and went "so this is the place he and his brother have always talked about."

The best team and driver won the championship this year. Couldn't have been any happier for Truex. Great feel good story on a remarkable year.

The most deserving driver definitely won. I personally would've preferred Rowdy to win his second championship, but I have nothing against Truex whatsoever.

Truly the end of an era yesterday with Junior and Kenseth calling it a career. One thing I haven't seen mentioned, but that really resonates with me, is that they were the last two remaining drivers who raced an entire season with Dale Sr. From what I can tell, Kurt Busch (8 races) and Ryan Newman (1 race) are now the only full-time drivers left who ever raced with the Intimidator. Sad.

And congratulations to Dre for winning our fantasy league! Much like Truex, he was the most deserving this year. I'm just disappointed I couldn't battle my way from 3rd to 2nd. First time I haven't finished 1st or 2nd in the league.

I would agree, it was truly an end to an era. I've been an Earnhardt fan for 32 or 33 years now and will be strange next year watching (or just catching the highlights) a race. We'll see though if I even catch a race or two next year.
