I feel like I'm one of the only people who really really liked MoS but did not like BvS. Seems most people either thought they were both great or both not so great.

Agree Chad, have been pleasantly surprised with supergirl. As far as the other CW shows go, don't think I'll ever stop loving Flash, Arrow has fallen waaaayyyy off and never watched legends. My wife rightfully thinks I am a weird 38 year old man cause I love the DC CW shows. Lol

Did anyone watch the Powerless debut last night? I actually liked it. It was light hearted and fun.

Some good discussion about it in the Batfleck thread:

I really hope we get another trailer for JL this weekend or least a teaser during the Super Bowl.

I liked Man of Steel up til the recockulous end - but how they swung it into the beginning of BvS actually made me like it more.

the only dumb thing I didn't like was Jor-El basically interacting as he was there - didn't need that.

    but BvS.... MARTHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he can do that. The holographic representation of him is basically a synthetic life of sorts that is programmed with all his memories and knowledge. So it interacts in the way he would as long as it is within the realm of his knowledge, memories and experience. That's how to always been in the comics, as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on who should play Nightwing? I was talking about with a colleague today at work and couldn't think of anyone off the top of my head.

I still want a Man of Steel sequel. I feel like the goal of DCEU right now is to add as many characters as possible. Nightwing is fine, but will he even be in Batman?

At this point the film I'm most looking forward to is the Flash, but the behind the scenes drama doesn't have me optimistic.

If The Batman doesn't start filming until 2018, does that mean we could potentially have a Batman and Shazaam release in 2019? I have high hopes for Shazaam/Black Adam being a really fun movie.

I'd guess we're realistically 2.5-3 years out from a solo Batman movie, based on the recent news.

So much CG in that movie, can't blame them.

Also, Armie Hammer is definitely Green Lantern, right?

Nothing says this franchise is building momentum like having Justice League come out and then not having any movies for over a year.

DC rushes 2-3 movies out in a year, people: "Why are they churning out shitty movies at such a high rate?"

DC tries to take its time and make the best final product possible: "Lol no movies for over a year."

DC literally cannot win. I get some of it is their own doing but they at least deserve a little credit in attempting to correct their "mistakes" and try a more patient approach.

Also, MoS came out June 2013, and BvS didn't come out until March 2016, for what it's worth.

It's just that every move they make screams that this whole thing is a clusterfuck. I guess I agree with you, I'm glad they are taking their time to try to get it right and fix their mistakes, but it's just that every announcement of a delay seems to also be linked with a director quitting over creative differences, or extensive reshoots because the movie is garbage, or something like that. They literally don't have a single movie after Aquaman that even has a release date pegged, and it's all because of off-screen turmoil and drama. It just feels like they can't get out of their own way.

Eh, besides the Flash debacle I think a lot of it is just the comic book media needing a headline grab once per week, the easy target is "look at how poorly run the DCEU is!" And Aquaman is still like 20 months away, they have tentative release dates for a few other flicks and there are several projects in the works, I wouldn't take no firm release dates as a bad sign this far in advance. Hell, they had BvS set for July 2015 for the longest time and then it got pushed back to March 2016.

They've already seen the nightmare that sticking to a release date can be (Suicide Squad- very clearly a rushed/disjointed project), it makes sense to keep the releases unclear this far out.

Actually I take it back - they are maybe looking to fast-track a movie for next year. I'll agree with you, this actually sounds like a much worse idea.

Ugh man. Flash and GL are likely out of the question given how CG-heavy those would necessarily have to be.

That leaves us with Sirens, Squad 2, or Dark Universe. Dark Universe would be my preference but, again, likely pretty heavy CG-wise (though not as much as Flash or GL). Realistically, Sirens or Squad 2 would be the most likely candidates. If I recall, Sirens is already in development which means it would have the best chance at a 2018 release. They would have to start shooting basically now in order to hit a May to July 2018 release, so again, another rushed product.

To their credit, it did say that if the script isn't ready they are fine just waiting til Aquaman and don't NEED to release another in 2018, but yeah...

And I know I seem like I'm bashing them at both ends on this page, for not releasing enough and releasing too many, but I do feel like they are two sides of the same coin in a way. I think it definitely shows that they didn't have things organized and planned enough from the start to have mapped out a steady stream of movies that they are really going to build the franchise around, like Flash, Batman, etc., in a timely manner, with directors leaving, scripts taking awhile, etc. But I certainly think it is compounding the issue to try to shoehorn in some C-list characters just to get another movie out there. I agree with you, I'm glad they are taking their time now, but ideally they would have developed and had a road map for these initial movies before announcing them all.

Yeah, one of the biggest disappointments as a huge DC guy was learning that they never had a real long-term plan in place, or, to the extent that they did, they modified/scrapped it after BvS and, to a lesser extent, Suicide Squad, got bashed by the critics.

I'm agreeing with mowjob - it just feels like a mess. Nothing seems fully thought out. Almost like they're just shooting from the hip and hoping one day the train will just set itself right on the tracks.

Release JL and then go back to the drawing board and use the Reeves Batman as a soft reboot of the Batman Cinematic Universe. Sign Ben to a 6 picture deal and make a good trilogy and a couple team up movies.

    I'm only half joking.
