Re: The New York Mets

Rooting hard for you guys... would love to see y’all in the WC game against either PHI or WAS and beat them to go to the DS. Would be an epic story after the dumpster fire that was the first half of the season.

I view the Mets much like I would view a hypothetical shithead brother. You don't expect anything from him at all, and it's fun to make fun of his misfortune, but when he does something even remotely noteworthy, you feel a small sense of happiness.

This felt like the Wilmer game. Which coincidentally was also against the Nationals at home.

Another come from behind victory. This team has so much fight, and like 2015 it seems the Nats are fuel for the Mets miracles!

Why do Yankee fans find it so hard to not fall in the trap of being a stereotypical yankee-fan-douche?

Let us suffer in our own misery, we know we suck. No need to be an asshole and rub it in. Go jerk off to your 27 rings - we are more than prepared on how to handle this latest disappointment without your help

(this is tongue-in-cheek, btw, you're good people Steng. You just like a douchey team and batman sucks!)

I know it is, no need to qualify.

The Mets are just so cute to me. Seriously. It's fun seeing you guys get all excited when we all know, without a shadow of a doubt, that your team will never allow you to feel joy. The inevitable cycle of soul-crushing is just too much fun to watch without commenting on. How many times can you guys fall for the same trap!?

I can only jerk off with 10 rings, I’m not flexible enough to get my feet up there and even with that I still have 7 leftover.

Yeah, but this NEXT time, Lucy surely won't pull the football away and the Mets are going to kick it right to the moooon!

And when we finally win another ring, the joy will be so incredible.

Either that or our curse will outlive the Cubs and I'll be dead before they win another.

One of those two. Has to be!

2015 was a lot more enjoyable. Sweep of the Nats to kick off the Mets cruising to the playoffs.

Also, not sure on Yankees' fans hot takes of the Mets. I used to be a big Yankee hater as a kid, but then I grew up. That said, hope to see Astros/Yankees and watch them melt and see Springer hit 12 home runs.

Oh, I'm by no means a Mets hater at all, if this was directed at me. I really don't care much one way or another about the Mets. In fact I sort of root for them in the way that you'd root for the nerdy kid in an 80s movie.

I just find their misery amusing.

I'm a Jets fan as well so I often share in the pain experienced by Mets fans on a yearly basis.

Haha, nah not really. It was pretty general. I listen to the Michael Kay Show most days and it was pretty funny hearing how pissy their Yankee fan listeners got when the Mets were doing well and the show was focusing on their success.

I just don't get Yankee fans beating up on the Mets. It's not as prevalent with say Giants fans crushing Jets fans.

I'm the fairest of fair weather Mets fans. At this point, I'm probably evenly split between the Mets and Padres (who I'm pumped to watch locally become a real team next year and beyond). So I don't personally get offending by the bashing.

No chance Syndegaard isn't back next year. Mets aren't letting him go without a haul, and his value is down because of a down year. Maybe they sell on him at the deadline next year, but he's almost definitely pitching for the Mets next April.

But tonight is almost certainly Wheeler's last start for the Mets

Mets finish 10 over. Amazing what a competent bullpen would've done for us. deGrom having another Cy Young year, Alonso being the NLROY while also winning the Derby and breaking the HR rookie record. JD being an absolute stud at the plate, Ramos being good and staying healthy, Rosario really starting to come together, Lugo(at) also having his best season, and McNeil doing McNeil things. Even though we didn't make the playoffs, I think the highs outdid the lows this season. Work on the bullpen.
