By the summer if you havn't gotten the vaccine, it's seeming like that will be because you don't want it. Feels likes a good sign in terms of reopening things.

Concerts in 2021 really depend on if this next surge is a thing or not. If things are still as are/in decline a month from now, then I'll feel a little more confident about things.

Not about DMB concerts, but about society moving forward in general. The media are practically begging for these variants to cause another surge.

This makes me think the venues know or don't think these shows are happening. Maybe the decision to postpone or cancel the tour has already been made... just waiting on an announcement.

On second thought, all the NOs other than Summerfest are new shows. Still odd that they aren't on the venues' sites, as they were announced 10 months ago

I know it’s a long shot at DMB going on tour this summer, at least early on but they are still listed on the northerly island website. Part me of wants Chicago to say no concerts so it keeps alpine in the fold one can dream right?

Tonight, President Biden will announce that he is instructing the states to make every adult eligible to receive vaccination by May 1st.

Obviously eligibility and distribution are two very different things but I really am starting to think we’re going to see more shows than any of us might have anticipated a few weeks ago. Again, it remains to be seen if DMB is a part of that, but I am feeling more optimistic we’ll see shows being played at major venues this summer.

Again, I don't see a path at all for June and July shows. If things are much better come July 1st, I do see Gorge happening.

I honestly could see DMB being one if not the first artists to require vaccination proof or recent negative test to enter.

Yeah, those Caverns shows posted elsewhere look really cool with pods and I would totally see Dave & Tim in one of those settings.

I mean, eventually there will be at the point where you have a better chance of dying or getting severely disabled driving to the venue than from catching The ‘Vid from a filthy disease vector enjoying themselves at the show. Especially if like 80% of the willing adult population is vaccinated by the end of July.

Yep. The prez Dave stumped for so hard and helped get elected just told yall MAYBE small gatherings in your backyard by 4th of July. IF you do your part. LOL. Forget 2021.

If everyone is eligible on May 1st and has one shot by May 31st, that would mean everyone would be fully vaccinated by the end of June. If that's the case, we should be able to have full blown events by the end of July.

That's what I don't understand. Why is it still "maybe small gatherings" at that point?

I think it's a matter of two things:

The first is tempering expectations. If he says by June we can party, and it turns out things went slower than that and we can't, it'll be a disaster. So I think there is caution built into the plans

But more importantly, we still don't know the extent of the mutations that have been occuring, and how those will continue to spread. We want to be sure that a mutation hasn't gained any ground and can render the vaccine less effective. We also need time to see how COVID behaves after a larger population receives the vaccines. There's still a lot left to know, and we don't want to regress or lose progress in any way.
