It's amazing to me how much they have struggled with this fucking album, when at LEAST 5 people here have posted "dream" album track-lists that 99 percent of the fanbase would be thrilled about. It's really not rocket science.

Probably matches with what Dave was saying. Maybe last minute mixes and album art and tracklist all need to be finalized in these 3 weeks. We’ll see if they can do it.

There's really no excuse to not have an album out, other than Dave doesn't really give a shit. They've had plenty of time, especially during the pandemic. And they've got plenty of material, both new and old.

And these days, it's not like you have logistical issues, where you need to get everyone in a room together to create/record an album.

Again... There's no reason we couldn't have a new album already.

Dave is clearly in no hurry, and he couldn't care less what his fans want. If he did, we'd already have an album with some awesome songs to listen to. In fact, if he really cared, we'd have a box set, and he'd dump the vault for us. But trust me, he doesn't lose a wink of sleep because he's concerned with what we want from the band.

In the end, we are likely going to be waiting quite a while longer. However, it's not like all the extra time that's involved is going to lead to a phenomenal new album worthy of the Big 3. In fact, it seems the longer Dave has to flesh out his new songs, and pick a collection of songs for an album, the worse it turns out to be.

Zoom teams or google? I think the type of platform they use would indicate the level of seriousness we could project.

IIRC, Dave mentioned working out the logistics of the "record" including album artwork. My hypothesis is the tracklisting is finalized, the album name has been chosen, it's mainly being held up due to him wanting to draw the album artwork and maybe include some sort of deluxe art package like we got with Big Whiskey.

Big Whiskey's artwork was heartfelt....AFTW felt a bit tired and CT was interesting (not Dave's) but a bit underwhelming.

how bout the album art cover that is a portrait of boyd but his face is censored / redacted would be funny

encouraging updates in here. i think an album titled "a walk around the moon" or "never ending sea" or "kaleidoscope dream" would be cool. captures well the strange times we live in and may reference a theme across the album. who knows.
