Went to see Lynch's Lost Highway in 4k at a local art house theater last night. Lynch always makes you think, but not sure it was even as coherent as I remembered it from 1997.

    Lightyear

I enjoyed it for what it was. The time travel stuff added a lot of weight to it. I was skeptical of the cat from the trailer, but it was funnier than I was expecting.

I watched Thief last night, its free on Amazon Prime right now. I wanted to see this movie after all the love it got when James Caan passed. Last hour of the movie was really good, always love a good heist movie. Also, pretty impressive debut for Michael Mann, the film looked great.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I just found a really cool Easter Egg in my favourite movie. Backstory: John Dies at the End was directed by Don Coscarelli, who is also known for his work on the Phantasm series. Angus Scrimm stars in that as the Tall Man. Angus also has a cameo in John Dies.

Anyway, in John Dies, you can see a dvd spine of Phantasm RaVager, the 5th entry in the series. It even has Angus's face on it. John Dies came out in 2012. Ravager came out in 2016, released posthumously for Angus.

For anyone that knows the John Dies series, this nod to a future movie is absolutely delicious. Just a gem of an Easter Egg.

    Great movie.

Will Odenkirk said they’re trying to get a sequel together on a recent Comedy Bang Bang appearance but don’t know how reliable anything is on that podcast lol.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero: 10/10

It’s between this, Battle of Gods and The Dead Zone as best Dragon Ball movie. Absolute masterpiece. Great animation, good story, great action and hilarious jokes. A movie barely having Goku and Vegeta should never be this good.

Good to know. I'll give it a watch. Gohan and Piccolo is still good stuff.

Bullet Train. 5/10 Not sure what I watched, but the cinematography was good at least. The first 10 to 15 minutes, I thought it would be a good action movie in a Knives Out type of way, but it felt like a Tarantino movie on crack, like trying to one-up From Dusk Til Dawn or something. Saw the late movie and was starting to fall asleep at the end. Sandra Bullock looked great at the end, going to guess Botox.

Woodstock doc on Netflix. Well, that was something. It made Fyter Fest look like the Grand Ole Opry. That could have gotten even more dangerous than it did. The last 30 minutes of part 3 reminded me of the insurrection on January 6th, in a weird way. I remember being a kid when this happened and was thankful that I didn't attend and now I'm even more thankful after watching that. When the tower fell, they're lucky no one was around and they're lucky no one got hurt by the trucks at the end of ep 3. Just craziness. Also, I thought DMB was going to be in the doc, but didn't see them (thought someone on here mentioned them, unless it's the HBO one?). Also, Rest in Peace, Michael Lang.

I think it's great that these Dragon Ball movies are killing it. It's all because of Dragon Ball Evolution.

    Seriously.

That movie was such an insult to Dragon Ball as a whole that the creator took DB out of retirement and started making these movies. And all of them are slaying, which is awesome to hear.

do you have to read the books first to understand the movies?

A lot to binge there, but with this particular movie you'd probably need to be familiar with the Red Ribbon Army arc in DragonBall + Dragon Ball Z through the Android and Cell series that really develops Picollo and Gohan.

You don’t. You’ll appreciate them more, but they explain everything pretty well. You might want to watch the other recent movies, like Battle of Gods, Resurrection of F, and Broly first though. They also explain a lot and are absolutely fantastic.

Especially the new Frieza theme song. A++
