Ya, I think Dave's voice was clearly not up for Crash that day.. I had a casual DMB fan friend call me and ask if Dave's voice was fucked up now, after hearing that. It wasn't solid. I think it was more Dave not feeling confident in being able to do the song justice. But of course he said if F it and did it for Stern anyways.

It really was not. The interview itself was very surface level. I learned nothing about Dave in it. Howard glazed over it. It's more about Howard than Dave.

Example of Howard being a "huge fan" other than saying it if he ever did.

What?? "Very surface level"?? I havent listened to the interview since it aired back in 2018, but i felt like we learened a lot. Off the top of my head, the story about playing the riff to Satellite over and over when he was learning the guitar and Dave saying his mom and sisters wanted to kill him, lol. The stories of him witnessing racism towards his friend in South Africa when they told his buddy to leave the store cause he was black. The story about the teleprompter being blank when he sang Memory Motel with the Rolling Stones. This is just off the top of my head, odd comment to say we learned nothing from Dave during a 95 minute interview.
