Re: Do you like the album?

Completely serious about this: this album is the first time since Busted Stuff that I've never felt compelled to skip any track on the album after a few listens. I love AFTW but some of the "small" songs on there I've skipped before. CT had multiple tracks that I skipped.

Even on Busted Stuff, some of Dave's lyrical choices (changes from LWS) annoyed me and I didn't enjoy the songs quite as much.

This one just flows for me, even STTMB and Singing From The Windows, which I never expected to like.

Yeah, I'm extremely happy this summer.

I'm the opposite. I literally almost never start the album on that god forsaken WATM recording so that is always a skip. Then usually ICH, STTMB, AYWWT are skips. Then by the time I get past those skips I realize the damn thing is over in 20 something minutes cause it's so friggin short. Vein, OATB, AE, and TOT have been the tracks I find myself coming to the most.

I like tBS version of Break Free more than the WAtM version. Same tune and bones, but something about the production/mix gives it forward momentum while the “new” version feels like it’s dragging.

I’ve only listened to it once . . . Was not impressed. . . Will give it another shot when I have time to listen to it straight through.

Don't hate it, flow is pretty bad though. Wouldn't make it great, but a better track order would make it significantly better/more listenable IMO.

In the most kind way possible, I really enjoy the brevity. It's a nice, concise package and thoroughly enjoyable. Listened on the way to the beach and it was all through so smoothly, I hardly noticed. In a good way, once again. Very "modern" DMB throughout when you listen, but I kind of feel like that fat lost boy in Hook: Oh, there you are, Dave!

I dig the new album but the best part is that it doesn’t change any of the music that came before it. The early catalog is prolific, now all the new stuff coming out is just gravy. Some really good songs on this album but as a whole it’s not the same as the early stuff. But I’m happy it exists.

I don't like listening to ME or TOT, and I had higher hopes for the BF outro in studio. I also am sad we didn't get BFI. Those are my only gripes at the moment. It's a tight little record.

For the most part, I like the collection of songs (only truly dislike After Everything, Something to Tell my Baby, and All You Wanted Was Tomorrow), hate the sequencing, and think it's really bad from a recording, production, and mixing standpoint.

It's also an album of a few missed opportunities for songs to have reached bigger heights during the creative process to me. The biggest examples of this are Monsters, Looking for a Vein, and It Could Happen. There was more to those ideas. Luckily some of that is happening live on the former two.

I like it, but I don’t see how it’s the best since 2002. It’s a lot of small songs, some duds, some gems. Solid album.

It pains me to eat my words and admit this, but I was just listening to the album and STTMB didn’t bother me. Dave’s voices sounds very good on it.

Best album since Busted Stuff. Everything 2005 and beyond pales in comparison. I know it is a big ask, but i hope this is just the beginning of something new for the band.

There's a handful of songs I go back to, the others I don't need to hear again. I'd put it above ct and aftw and probably just under bw. There's no way I can put this above the collection of songs on everyday, since there's really only two skips on that album for me.
I think the best thing though is it did get me listening to dmb again, which I really haven't done in almost three years, even if it is the older stuff

Again this is all subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion. With the exception of Break Free I don’t expect much Re-listenability for me with this album. Bw, aftw, ct, they all get a ton of relistens from me. Idk, maybe I just need to listen to it more but I think it’s actually not good. Sorry to be such a downer here.

Def not a downer. You can like and or dislike something without making it about the people that disagree with you. Having an opinion/personal taste is not a downer. It's a downer when you just go this sucks, I hate it, I hate DMB, and DM sucks now, and can't write, this is garbage, how can anyone enjoy this crap, you all are dumb for liking it.. lol

Some people love AFTW and CT and some don't. Same with WATM. It's just interesting that they are all so polarizing among the fan base.

I really do not like AFTW. I tried for a long time to somewhat like it, but outside of Snow Outside/Drunken Soldier it's just not good to me. I can't and never find myself putting it on. I've probably listened to WATM more in the last month than I listened to AFTW in 11 years. I can put my finger on production/writing/ the mix.. But whatever it is, it's not happening for me. The same with WATM for some people. The things I enjoy about it, they are not.

I still like Come Tomorrow and enjoy listening to it. Though I think WATM is a much better record.

It has grown on me too and it fits on the album. Without context, or if it remained like a live only solo song, I don't know that I would be saying the same. I get it though now, and find it stuck in my head in a good way often..

The songs that get stuck in my head are

    Looking For A Vein
    It Could Happen
    Something To Tell My Baby
    All You Ever Wanted

Don't know why, but they are on repeat in my brain at various times throughout the day.
