Why I Am is one most of us yawn when we see it pop up on a set, but for example of what I was taking about, I think it was this year, one regularly played venue got it in the set for the first time since like 2009. Think about local show guy/gal that went in 2009 to the BW tour, loved Why I Am and then didn’t see it again til this summer. While ants.org champion ball buster Jim-Bob sat w his arms crossed at a “common song”, this guy probably got pretty excited.

Night to night, I completely agree, things haven’t been as good as we would like them to be. But, it’s nice to see they are still doing good things when it comes to the individual venue shows.
This is a great point. The level of enjoyment you get from DMB seems to have a negative correlation to how intently you follow them.

I'm hopeful that the slate of upcoming hardcore venues and markets starting in Mansfield this week will play host to an uptick in variety if not more tour debuts.

Camden was not the place this happened at. You’ve seen that 8 times there in 9 years.

Nothing is close to what it was. It's been nearly 3 decades, multiple lineups, 9 studio albums, and countless other changes. The question is to what extent do you, the royal you, still enjoy dmb in 2018 for what they are now?

i mean it did. its not that why i am is bad, but it just didnt lift the show up even a little after that horrific run mid show.

Listened to some of this tour shows...
    Buddy is fine..
    Rashaun is still not good...
    Tim is way too loud
Dave, Carter & Stefan are great but...

There is no Boyd, & the setlists are weak/repetitive..coming off a mediocre album...

Curious to see what the attendance figures are...

I dont know how anyone could see anymore than 5 shows a summer at this point. The setlists have been this way for years now, they're fun for a weekend or two at most, but any more than that and you're paying to see the same show.

I think the worst part is that every tour we are complaining that there isn't enough diversity. DMB is my favorite band and I will continue to see them every year but I do envy fans of bands that get to hear amazing diversity at their shows.

I didnt like D+T at a big outdoor arena. Jones Beach was a terrible place for that. Give me D+T at one of the 100 theaters in NYC and I would drop big money to see that.

Serious question: how many bands are worth seeing 5 times or more in one tour?

Part of the problem is that it’s the same great songs on repeat. Doesn’t make them any less great but it doesn’t help when other great songs get few or no plays.

The Vulture interview speaks volumes when Dave references how they are kinda like Jimmy Buffett and it's turned into a party band.

I think he sees the band going in the direction of the coral reefers in the sense that they tour to big markets and have a base setlist with floater slots for variety. Jimmy is king of that racket.

Pearl Jam, Phish (if you're into that), UM...plenty of bands are! DMB is not one of those anymore. They are, however, one of the best "Hey, DMB is in town this weekend, lets tailgate, have a few drinks, and have a blast!" bands on the planet. They literally make millions and millions of dollars from people across the country living out that sentence.

This pretty much sums up my post about. Jimmy Buffet at Jones Beach gets tens of thousands of people tailgating in the parking lot without going to the show. I've been to the Jimmy Buffet tailgate 4 times and have never seen them live

Totally agree and for many, yourself included, they have become a band not worth seeing more than once or twice a year. IMO they are absolutely still worth seeing every year at least once. Do you think you would get more enjoyment from your shows if you didnt watch the sets from home every night?

I'm not really a fan of any of the bands you mentioned, I know the most about Phish bc they are constantly brought up here. Those bands are currently worth seeing in 2018? If so, that's awesome for those fans.

Never seen a bad Pearl Jam show, and UM almost always puts on a solid set. Phish I don’t even need to get into, though I will say they’re less consistent at times but the highs far outweigh the lows.

What Phish pulled off last summer was legendary.

UM is one of the best live acts on planet earth right now, and im not even a huge diehard fan. They are completely in sync in almost every way.

No, i dont think the set watching matters for me at all? Why? Because ive watched sets since their inception on 6/19/00 when it finally went live.

Good setlists cure many things. Again, friday night wasnt great but it was solid and i enjoyed it. And I figured theyd do so much better. And in turn, they pulled off one of the worst ive seen. Bad sets on top of the sound for me add up into one big pile of shit. If the songs are good, you can overlook certain things like the trumpet, or buddys church organ. Bad set + iffy overall sound = a mess. I do not except shows to be even june 2006 quality anymore, i got over that. But i at least expect something as good as say philly winter 2012. To tell you the truth, i dont even expect camden n2 2013 anymore. That show was probably out of this world good by accident. i left that show with my jaw on the floor. i didnt think it was possible for DMB to do that good anymore.

They were so good, man. Nashville was a lot of fun, and Merriweather here was good too, but the Philly shows were really, really special. I'd be very excited about another D&T tour.

I just don't get how the band doesn't get sick of playing the same things. They should be at the point in the band where more than just Dave has at least a little input. We all know Stefan would make killer setlists.

Stand Up hasn't been played in 11 years, Bayou hasn't been played consistently in 5 years, Steady As We Go, almost 15 years, Hello Again, 8 years. They dont get tired of playing the same thing because they are playing a bunch of new songs they have never played before (She, Come Tomorrow, Come On Come On, That Girl Is You), a bunch of songs that they havnt thought about in 8-15 years, and a bunch of newer songs that are still fresh (Again and Again, Can't Stop (to an extent), Do You Remember). It's very obvious how they dont get sick of playing the same things.

My apologies then. I thought with the song spread laid out we were trying to indicate the sets were diverse.
