    This...so much this.

I don't even care if it is the Rangers anymore...I just don't want Tampa/Anaheim in. Rooting for the Hawks as much as the Rangers at this point lol.

Do the Rangers have one more miracle in them? Back to back wins against Tampa will be tough. I could see them getting rocked tonight, but I could also see them pulling it off again.

Literally, I can't see them do shit tonight because my summer class starts today and runs 6:30-9:40pm. Rangers will have to win tonight or game 4 was the last hockey I watch this season.

i'm just rooting for Simon Despres at this point

maybe after Despres wins a cup, Jim Rutherford will finally wither away into the nothingness that he truly is

I have 0 confidence in the Pens for the next year. Sorry. If Babs had gone there, things would be different but they still need some roster help too.

he started off by making 2 fairly good moves (Neal trade for Hornqvist & Spaling, 1st rounder for Perron)

and ever since then its been a dumpster fire

he got the job because the Pens just made change for the sake of change. thats bad business

The east is going to be weird next year. Won't look like this year at all. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boston, Philly and Columbus back in. I would also not be surprised if the Rangers missed the playoffs all together after back to back longish (they will probably lose to Tampa) runs.

We could totally have a Met division that looks like:
    1. Islanders
    2. Washington
    3. Philly
    4. Columbus

The Hawks' achilles heel is being exposed by the Ducks this series. The Hawks I think have the better system and certainly the better top-4 D, top-9 FW......but they have possibly a couple of the worst players in this series. Kimmo Timonen is almost certainly the worst player in the series and Q trots him out every game. They don't have many better options unfortunately. When you are on the ice for 2 goals against yet barely crack 8 mins of ice time, that's a huge problem.

And then the other guy is Bryan Bickell. The $4m mistake is playing even worse than his usually invisible self. It's a great team being held back by a couple of big problems. Still can win the series, as they have carried the play at times, but the Ducks seem to excel at saving their energy for a few big pushes and they strike very efficiently.

It's gonna be a crazy finish. I mean I think you've got the 8 teams who made it this year, all in the battle and then add in the teams you mentioned plus maybe FLA. OTT is a team that is a big ? but that's it. So that's 12 teams fighting for the 8 spots. I want to see the Wings get year #25 but if they don't make it, I'm starting to get to where it's "well it's gonna happen." I mentioned the other day the way Holland was talking about making the playoffs and that got me thinking, it's not the end of the world if they miss it, cause it doesn't mean a bad year. 96 points missed the playoffs this year. The Wings in 1997 finished 3rd in the West and had 94. Hell, that year 77 points got the Habs in to the 8 spot.

It was a rough sketch. I also don't really believe the Rangers will miss the playoffs. Just making a point that the east is a crap-shoot.

Lot a teams that can make it and none of them on the level of the top 4-5 teams in the west (in my opinion of course).

Bickell will be tough to move and I can't see them moving Crawford. I see the idea behind it, but that would be a huge gamble that I don't see any team doing it.

CBJ has dominated the flyers each of the past 2 years, even when banged up. there's no reason to think that would change.

Those are the two I've been saying for a long time. Bickell will be the toughest sell. Crawford would have plenty of people interested. Buffalo and Toronto off the top of my head. They're both in the later stages of rebuiling, and adding a Cup winning goalie and SC playoff tested guy would be huge. I could see the Jets, Senators, Stars, Flyers, Sharks, all interested to varying degrees too.

Most GMs know the shit he gets is way overblown, and that he's a really, really solid guy between the pipes.

Bickell, on the other hand, should have been traded for a bag of dust at the deadline. He's an AHL player that was just right place/right time one offseason. The Hawks might have to trade a pick with him to get rid of that contract. Bickell and a 5th for a 7th or something like that. But I think Bowman moves him literally any way he can.

Yeah, they'd need to sweeten that deal for anyone to take him. Well, I guess there is always Tallon in FLA.

I don't know if they have the balls to give up Crawford, that's my thing.

This is simply brutal for me, the players get a night off I wish I did. The Hawks have been my team since the Whalers moved but the Rangers are my second favorite team due to geography. I am exhausted with all these close games, OT's and whatever other surprises we have all seen. Frustration aside that both my teams are down a game this has been some of the most amazing and exciting hockey I have ever seen, I have been on sitting on the edge of my seat virtually every moment of every game because it has been so crazy and unpredictable. There isn't even really a team to hate, it has just been great hockey though I think Tampa's coach is an ass and a couple of the Ducks piss me off - admittedly biased on those ducks guys. Refs have been letting a lot slide too so both series are becoming increasingly physical. It has just been plain fun to watch but it is catching up with me being so invested. I have watched a lot of hockey in my life and have never seen two series like this in the semi's where it is so unpredictable and close, I cannot imagine how even someone whop didn't cheer for any of the remaining teams not being amazed at these games. I honestly think the only time in either series I felt comfortable was when the Rangers took a 4 goal lead on Tampa.

I think my only real gripe is that I think between intermissions and commercials we are getting 1 minute of hockey for each minute of commercial/intermission report.

I agree, I think it would be a fun series, well should be. Like I said the other day, it wouldn't be the Ducks/Sens from 8 years ago.

Sure, ratings will suck, but I think it'll be a great series. Makes me think back to 2004 which was SUCH a good series but no one watched cause it was Calgary and Tampa.

Agree but in different ways though. Tampa is explosive quick and exciting and it is paying dividends. Anaheim just plays physical fundamentally good hockey and that too is fun to watch, just not as exciting as tampa. These both of these matchups have shown us all some damn amazing hockey.

I really don't like the Ducks. I just don't like their brand of hockey. I can't stand Corey Perry, and the only guy I've ever found myself rooting for is Cam Fowler.

Tampa I'm ok with. I'd prefer my boys Yandle, Hank, Nash, McDonagh, etc. are in the Finals, but I rather enjoy Tampa...just not as much.

If it's not Crawford, it's Sharp. Do you think they would move a guy that's had the "A" on his sweater since before Toews/Kane stepped onto the ice, since the crowds went from 3,000 per game to 22,000?

I think the Hawks made moving Crawford obvious when they resigned Darling. It gave them the tandem of Darling and Raanta for the next couple years at super, super cheap. They have them both under contract, and can let them battle it out between the pipes. The Hawks have always been a "skater before goaltender" group, and Crawford has just been a luxury the past couple years. I certainly think that the organization will do whatever it can to keep Sharp and Seabrook at all costs, including moving Crawford.

I think Crawford, Versteeg, and Bickell are gone, which clears $12,200,000 in cap space, and puts them at $51,845,127 committed to the cap. Assuming a $72m cap, that gives them ~$20m in space to work with, but a lot of that can be filled within the organization.

The signings of Panarin, Baun, and Paliotta were done to fill holes for dirt cheap with "NHL ready" talent. If Stephen Johns didn't get hurt in the last game of the season in the playoffs with the Ice Hogs, it sounded like Q was ready to let him skate in the playoffs. Couple that with TvR and you have a pretty good defensive pairing for less than $2m. Resign Kruger, possibly Vermette or Richards, bring up Ryan Hartman...and the Hawks cap issues don't look so bad.

What I'm saying is...It just is the most likely scenario. Crawford is the most Byfuglien-like person on this year's squad. Yes, he's valuable, and no, we couldn't have made it this far without him...but he just is right outside of that "core" looking in that Bowman always talks about.

I don't' really know how you get rid of Bickell? Everyone knows he is fucking terrible at hockey. Giving him that contract was the dumbest thing that the Hawks' current management has done.

Crawford is good, but only a borderline top 10 goalie in the league and he makes a lot of money, wrong side of 30, etc. I like Crawford but certainly if you could send him to someone for a draft pick(s) that would be the best case scenario. Just don't see it happening because I thought he had a NMC and I just don't think you have a ton of takers.

Don't these guys all have NMC anyway? That's what makes it so hard.....

Brian Campbell had a NMC and the Hawks traded him to a team outside his 7 available. Most of these guys waive that provision in their contract when in a situation like this. No one wants to sit around in an organization that wants to move them, and force the organization to move someone else (Sharp).

The Hawks had to take a bath on some guys (Ladd, Buff, etc) in 2010 when they had this issue, and it's going to happen again. The Hawks won't get "fair compensation" for any of these guys. Everyone knows their situation, just like 2010. Like I said, Bickell will be a tough sell, but Bowman traded John Scott and Dan Carcillo for picks before, I think he'll be fine moving Bickell just to get rid of the salary. I'm not worried about it.

I mean I know you aren't worrying about it. There's a huge difference between having to trade Ladd, Buff, Versteeg in their early-prime years and not getting fair value vs. trying to dump a horrible contract on somebody without having to take on salary.

Sharp has value. Somebody would take Sharp. If nobody takes Bickell off your hands, they are going to end up being stuck trading #10 away. That's the worry for me.

Not gonna happen. Someone will take Bickell. Florida, Columbus, etc. lots of teams with cap space that could use him. Especially if you move them up in the draft, too. There are ways to do it.

    Like I said, Bickell and a 5th for a 7th or something. Bickell and a 3rd for a 6th.

Just scored tickets to game 6 tonight. We'll be in the very top row of the arena, but who cares, we'll be there!
