You could say this about a lot of their recent songs, but I can't believe Stand Up was a song recorded by the same band who recorded Dreaming Tree. Mother of Christ it's bad.

I know this was a rare situation, because of the rain. However, it would be pretty neat if DMB adopted this sort of format. The personnel, song choices, and song placement are the most intriguing possibilities, IMO.

I thought it was pretty good last year in ATL, I really enjoyed Jeff on the flute.

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

I've been pretty lucky in my 3 years of seeing the band to get to see some cool songs now that I think about it. Tripping Billies > Halloween, YNK, Grace, full band WAYG, 2nd instrumental KKJ ever, Ditch, multiple BOWAs, 2 LLDs, multiple Grey Streets (my favorite song).

I just happened to look at some of the adjacent sets to mine and giggled though. I only caught one show in 2012 and 2013 before starting to really get into it last summer.

In 2012, I missed So Right and stop-time WH by one night (always wanted to do the woo's). Not that upsetting.

2013 was just a tad bogus, although I don't wanna complain about KKJ, LLD and Ditch. VA Beach was bookended by Charlotte and Bristow, both of which got Crazy Easy and LBV. Charlotte also had full band Recently (getting Recently acoustic was cool, but that song about Carter for me) and Two Step > Ants > Halloween set closer. I missed Spoon in Bristow too. Both of those shows also had liberations (KKJ = cool, ODH = not as much).

2014, again not as bad. Only qualms are Pig and IOY (really wanna see this one live) the night before Charlotte, but it was WPB N2 so I can't really moan too much.

I'd say the pros outweigh the cons

Some songs that should be tried out as an opener for the first time / more often:
    #34
    Busted Stuff
    Captain
    Crash into Me
    Crush
    Hello Again
    Idea of You, The
    Joyride
    Say Goodbye
    Space Between, The
    Spoon
    Typical Situation
    You Never Know

Some songs that should close sets / encores for the first time / more often:

    Bartender
    Best of What's Around, The
    JTR
    Pig
    Rhyme & Reason
    Stone, The
    Warehouse

    Just a random thought

Nah, I love hearing "Fuck Me Like a Donkey babyy!!" close out shows. Dave's so funny/goofy!! And that eyebrow thing..Omg!

But seriously, yeah they need to switch things up/take some chances this summer with song placement. The Stone and Warehouse should be staple set/encore closers.

I think you guys who complain about set lists, minute details, and crap are just spoiled. Enjoy him while you can. Its been 5 years since ive seen dmb live. Every time i listen to dmb, i get this strong urge that i have to see him live. For the past 4 years, Ive been trying so hard to juggle work, kids school, a family vacation , life just to get back to the gorge.

I would kill to be in a position to complain about what lyrics dave should sing during the intro of two step or what song dave should play as an encore.

Not trying to make enemies. I guess im not a true fan yet.

It slightly irritates me when people call DMB "him"

I wish Dick Masterson replaced Dave in the band. Better singing voice, better musician, and the taunting of women would be top notch entertainment.

I think that by listening to DMB (since age 12), and lyrics has made me a better person. Optimistic, positive, cheerful....

Anyone else have thoughts on this? I say this because friends often say, "wow you really look on the bright side even when times are tough". Maybe it's all the DMB?

    I've developed into a negative asshole, but I don't think that's the music's fault.

Good on you for being a good and positive person.

Am I crazy or did Boyd sound better on the black violin. The reason I think this is because I watching jimi from 5/19/12 and Boyd didn't have any skrees.
