I don't think it's that these specific members you mentioned don't understand - they simply are not the ones calling the shots. You should reach out to Dave himself. Once you are successful with this and he decides to give you an honest answer it most likely will be, "I don't give a f#ck, I'm going to play what I want to play".

Jeff's response leads me to believe he (and maybe Boyd) either saw Stefan's melt the other day or Stefan brought it up to them in conversation. He didn't really respond to your tweet but his comment more touches on Kev's "mailing it in" comment. I'm also surprised Jeff tweeted something like that. He's usually more positive.

Either way, I agree that Stefan, Boyd, and Jeff probably can't change the set much for whatever reason.

I honestly think, as much as he was whiny the other day, that he at least understands where we are coming from with his #indaclub comment (or whatever that was). I think if it were up to him LYD would have been played a while ago.

Dave writes the sets, shows them to the band and says "this is what we are playing." (Seven for the millionth time, Shake Me, Belly Belly Nice x100, some garbage featuring the Lovely Ladies)

It's Dave's decision even though they "make it seem" like the entire band contributes to the set.

The moment the band starts trying to cater to people's whims on setlists, is when they fail.

You'll never please everyone. The band needs to play the sets they want to play.

It really makes me wonder if the rest of the band has any say as to which songs are played at a show. I don't quite understand why they would want to play the same stuff over & over again like they do. Knowing that people come from all over the country to hear them play or go to both nights at one particular venue..they still insist on playing Shake Meh until our ears bleed.

The band plays a good mix of old and new and like any band they continually play a few songs that they are having fun playing, developing live, or trying to make sure everyone gets a chance to hear the songs they are playing this year. Look at the Dead in the 70's, their greatest era and many of the sets are similar, not identical but similar songs in different spots, some nights it works great and others it doesn't. I think they do a great job mixing things up, this current lineup came together during big whiskey and so they play a lot from that time. Of the shows I have been to this summer, people at the venue are excited to hear Jimi Thing and new songs because they are younger and got into this band now, DMB cant ignore that. There will always be elusive songs to be played and that want to be heard but that's the fun of it, I would have never thought crazy eazy would have been busted out last year and it was. Only on ants do people get really upset about this, at the shows, the crowd is into it, so loud during cornbread or Jimi. Ants is such a small percentage of each shows attendance and of my friends that don't do shows, they say they would be pissed if they saw DMB and they didn't play their current music or radio hits, they don't want to hear rare stuff. Its very hard to make a setlist as there are many types of different fans. Some nights it works and others it doesn't, but this band never mails it in, try playing guitar like he does, in that heat, standing for that long and the range of singing the way he does it, Stefan and Carter the best rhythm section I have seen, Jeff and Rashawn with a horn section no other band can compete with, Boyd is a crazy violin player, and Tim is a guitar freak blending several different styles of guitar playing that most people simply don't get to see or hear. This band rocks! That being said, I don't care for these ladies, but hopefully that is over for the summer. One of the best lines of Jimi "I still don't care if you do or don't like it"

I could be wrong but from what I remember it was playful humor because at the time of the gatherings, Stefan was doing that "Inner Circle" group on twitter at the same time Boyd was doing the #Narnia thing. Trying to diminish #Narnia compared to Inner Circle. Whole thing was kinda dumb.
