That's what I figured, but it didn't make sense to me

I don't know how anyone could possibly think we'd be back to packing 15,000 people into amphitheaters in 6 months. I live in NY, so I don't know how people view this in other states, but here, a return to "normal" doesn't seem anywhere close to the horizon.

If we get lucky could be late fall but odds are due to insurance reasons for the venues and the bands essentially 2021 is over with.

Could change but not likely, larger bands have the money to survive, smaller bands will have more issue. Plus you have the unions/stagehands to work with.

I am disappointed, it is a lot of fun, make good money for a side gig with tips and wage not to mention free concerts while working...

I don't buy that all of 21 is a wash when it comes to large events at the present moment. Too much money lost and to be made by having them ASAP. I think the next 4-6 months will seem drastic improvement wrt the virus as people will see the vaccine is the only way things get back to "normal" anytime soon. I think DMB and bands like that will be playing shows on Labor Day at the latest. June and July will be iffy but I could see them happening in certain markets.

Gatherings are much more likely with Biden in office.

Make people wear masks, make people provide proof of vaccination or a recent negative test, open the fucking gates and let the concerts go ahead.

Bills are allowing fans in two weeks. I would call this “close” to a mass gathering... and it’s in New York. Yes it’s different, but I think you could do something similar with concerts in major cities.

Aren’t they allowing like 6500 fans in a 70,000 capacity stadium?

As far as “Biden in office” that is what i was told.

At concerts how do you think you would keep people apart and wearing a mask the entire time.

I hope we get some shows, i make nice money working them. Odds of them going to happen seem slim from what i am hearing... keep in mind bands have the cash already from delayed concerts so they are probably not in a rush to play on old tix and money..

Yes, but it’s a start. We are peaking right now so I’m surprised they are allowing anyone in but we’ll see

We're going to have another year of it.

Many have been BEGGING people to wear masks, to social distance, and refrain from traveling and gathering for holidays and other occasions. It hasn't worked for the last 10 months, and it may work slightly better with a leader of the country who has a Brain and Cares about people's lives.

But the train has left the station. Given how things are going with the vaccination roll out, it's going to be AT LEAST September before enough of the country is vaccinated, to allow large gatherings. And even then, I doubt events will be back to or near 100% capacity levels.

Given the costs involved, groups like DMB are not going to do lots of dates with limited capacities. Things like that are more feasible with a sporting event, given the game will occur regardless of whether less than a stadium full, or Any fans are even present.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wait to the last possible moment to cancel/postpone any Summer dates. But that doesn't mean they expect the shows to go on as scheduled, any more than they did last summer's shows. If venues are already anticipating being dark next summer, you can bet bands like DMB know that the writing is on the wall at this point.

Dont forget venues just got 15 billion in grants and bands are business that can apply for the PPP loans.

The spread keeps happening due to everyones personal bubbles of comfort. You trust someone who they trust someone else and they trust others and so on. A current or future president is not going to be able to stop this.

Vaccines wont stop it, you still have to wear a mask and social distance after getting it. Plus if you read it only stops or diminishes the effects you feel. You still can carry and spread covid after the shots.

This is long term and will continue through 21 unfortunately..

Our county released the info for their vaccination plan, people 16-40 won't even have a chance (according to this plan) to receive a vaccine until Q3/Q4. Which means, people in my age category (31) won't even have a chance at it until Q4. 2021 is a wash already. What a colossal fuckup by this current administration.

I was the one on pg 1 saying we'd have shows, but I don't see any way now. The rollout is too slow. It's pathetically slow. Hell, at this rate, we'll be lucky to have shows by spring 2022.

My mental health can't take another year this. I need a fucking concert. It's going to suck when I'm sitting here in August watching half the country running about their life, having fun because they've had the vaccine and I'm still working from home because I can't get a shot.

Once the elderly and the frontline workers are vaccinated, it shouldn’t matter if you go out and have fun anyway, right? Unless the new goalpost is zero covid. In which case, that pretty much shoots 2021.

I mean, personally I'd like to avoid getting the virus. I'm a hypochondriac who once had a panic attack because I woke up with a sinus infection. Even if my chances of survival are high, I'm no fan of being sick.

This is the correct view point. Once we have enough of the high risk pop vaccinated and the hospital systems are no longer stressed we can return to normal. Covid will never go away. But when we get it to Flu like level of societal risk we will just live with it.

I don’t think there’s anyone who wants to get sick, but I’d also really like to see DMB at the Gorge.

I would too but my doubts about the safety of that are still present. With the current model my state has laid out, anyone 16-40 won't get a vaccine unless their a frontline worker or in a high risk category until Q3/Q4. That's a significant amount of the demographic at a DMB show. Unless they're testing people at the door, that's going to be Rona Party.

I'm really just hoping the plan laid out was being Uber-conservative and assuming the other vaccines on deck won't get approved.

The idea that anybody doesn't want to go see a show is ridiculous. I had tickets to 6 shows this year, in addition to 6 days of New Orleans Jazz Fest. In 2019 I went to 8 days.

Bands want to get back out on the road and perform. There is not a single one that doesn't. But it's not safe, and they are not going to endanger Themselves, their Roadies, their Staff, their Families, their Fans, and everybody else those people will come in contact with. Some bands/performers might, but DMB is not one of them.

I am a big Bruce fan, and I frequent a couple of his message boards. He just released a new album, and had planned to have already started a 2 Year World Tour. They are not getting any younger, and want to go promote the album, not wait until it's been out for a year.

Word is that the lead guitarist, Little Steven, is saying at this point, they're hoping for just a 1 year delay, starting the tour late 2021. But he also said it might not be until 2022 that they are able to do so, and they're just going to wait until it's safe.

Fauci did say yesterday he sees a return to normalcy for schools, sporting events, theatres, etc. in the early fall based on vaccines and herd immunity. Winter tour 2021. Fingers crossed.

I think a Dave and Tim Winter tour in 2021 is plausible to be honest. They've already allowed fans in the stands for baseball games and football games over the past 6 months, I can totally see D&T playing in from of 2,000 fans somewhere. Maybe the auditorium needs to hold substantially more seats to spread folks out, but I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Its when/how not if concerts comeback in 21 from my pov. That industry won't take 2 years off. They will find a way to make some shows happen.

Only read page 1, but I'm assuming any concert venue is going to ask for proof of vaccination before anyone can enter. Logical thing to do.

Until when? I think it’s strange that we’re going to need vaccine proof all of a sudden when there’s been fully booked airline flights, restaurants, and other events happening throughout the country this last year. I’ve never had to show proof that I’ve been vaccinated against smallpox or measles before going into a concert.
