Walk Around the Moon

The more I listen to this song, the more I dislike it. It feels empty, the lyrics aren't engaging at all and the only thing redeeming about it at all is Jeff. I wanted to make a poll to see how people feel. What do you think about the song?

I smoked pot every single day of my life for about 6 years straight...maybe something more psychedelic than that? I feel like the song is about a mushroom. Red "dress" , polka dots..

Yes the way I see it, which really does make much sense

Even the background screen has mushrooms displayed it looks like

I like it, but only mildly right now. It hasn’t clicked for me yet. Very interested to hear the studio version.

listening to Tim Brown's version now and its not bad. like others have said I'm gonna be interested to hear it evolve and especially a studio version.

P.S. - if you haven't already done so DL Tim Browns pull right now....sounds so much better than the SiriusXM version

Dave said himself last year that it’s about a mushroom. No mystery here.

Indifferent. It is what it is. Not great, not terrible. I much prefer Shake Me Like a Monkey and Squirm to it. Seven, even.

I'm not feeling the beginning part of the song, love pretty much everything from "jump back" on, really solid tune. I like it more than Bismarck.

I’m not sure yet. I feel like Dave sings too much on it. Wish the song breathed a bit more. But there’s parts of it I like.

    d). Didn't listen/haven't heard

kind of afraid, after reading these posts. Might wait a bit to give the song a chance to evolve. But saying goes, you can polish a turd...

Of the 28 people who have responded yes or no, 24 of them have responded yes, and the takeaway is that's a scary turd?

The comments tend to be more harsh than the polls. If you didn’t see the poll and just read the comments you might think it’s 50/50. I think that’s usually the nature of message boards.

I haven’t listened to the tape yet, but saw it both Friday and Saturday. I liked it Friday, loved it Saturday, and now it’s stuck in my head. I hope to see it again in Alpharetta.

I’m very happy to have a new song that features Jeff on the flute.

It's interesting. Much in the same way "She" was on CT. If I was at a show, I wouldn't say "Nice" when it started. I would say, "Oh yeah, this song."

I'm a fan, it's been the song stuck in my head the most after seeing both shows. There are a couple parts I'm not huge on, like the way he was attempting to sing the "round and round inside of my head" part and the quick transition into "I know, you got." I think it would benefit from letting it breath a bit more there. But it definitely picks up in the "big stand, jump back" section and Jeff's flute part and the whole outro is great. I do think this will end up being a better studio track though and I'm excited to eventually hear that version.

Copperpot's mix gave me a completely new take on the song. This will be an absolute studio monster. Live, it definitely needs a little polishing, but it's very vintage weird Dave. Drive in Drive out meets The Riff.

Voted Yes, but am just slightly leaning that way at the moment. Need to hear studio, and a more polished live version. Kind of worried that Dave advertised this as one of the best he's ever written. Leaves me a bit wary of the other new unheard songs.
