I have been seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of these for awhile now. Good results? Did you notice a big difference before/after the cleaning?

No. I don't know why some of the vinyl says that. I complained to customer service once. They gave me half off, It all depends what rep you get.

Gotcha. I'd rather have half off than the CD!

I got mine on Discogs and the listing didn't say that, which is why I was curious about the Amazon listing. Like we said before their vinyl listings are SO bad, very often inaccurate at worst and vague at best.

I'm glad that it did indeed end up being the MOV pressing that you got though!

It's definitely a nice machine, a step up from the Spin Clean (which is what I still am using). But I still don't know if it's worth taking the next step and going for the Pro-Ject VC-S

I'd LOVE that, but the leap from $200 to $500 is more than I want to spend on a cleaner....if I had $500 to spend I'd probably be looking at doing more TT upgrades (or even a new TT entirely, even though I love my Carbon....)

The upgrades continued yesterday with an impromptu speaker purchase...

    Rega P3 with Elys cart
    U-Turn Pluto preamp
    Pioneer VSX1022 receiver
and the new Polk Signature Audio S55 speakers (from my old Polk Monitor 50s)

I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces yet, but Pay For What You Get and a Counting Crows cut called Perfect Blue Buildings were nothing short of spectacular.

What's the next logical step? Other than to chill on the spending and buy some records...lol

    What accessories do you got?

But for real, just kick back and enjoy your tunes now and stock up on some well-mastered records!

I bought these earplugs earplugs to help with concerts. https://www.amazon.com/Shark-Vibes-A...ibes+ear+plugs

I went to see John Mayer last night and decided to give them a try. They were AMAZING.

When the opener came out they were so loud, so I popped them in and it was like someone literally turned down the volume in my head but I could hear everything crystal clear. During John's set multiple times I had to remind myself that I had ear plugs in because they were so comfortable. And I honestly think they enhanced the sound because I could hear every single instrument individually and clearly.

I thought it was crazy too how much sound they blocked out (like crowd noise) but there was some girls chatting behind me between songs and I could hear them like I didn't even have ear plugs in. A little aggravating but it was cool because I told me I could still hear what my neighbor was saying if we wanted to talk about something during the show.
I wish I would have read this post before going to the Metallica concert last night. That was the loudest thing I've ever experienced.

Grab them for the next show! I'm going to wear them to every show no matter the volume. It really made the music sound better.

I might have to break down and give these a shot. Seeing Kings of Leon with Nathanial Ratliff & the Night Sweats on Saturday, if I use Prime I can probably get them in time...hmmm.

I need to just pull the trigger and get custom molded. I have a friend who has them and he says they are exponentially better than any plug he has tried before that. I go to enough concerts its probably worth it.

I definitely say do it. I'd say they were worth 4x the value. Like I said, I forgot I even had them in and the sound was unreal. Not to mention the most important thing is that it is helping to preserve my hearing.

Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

Hey all, long time reader first time writer in this thread

Been doing some research over the last 1-2 months as the wife and I are thinking about getting TT, we have a few records we've collected over the years more for nostalgia but never had a way to use them. With my research I was leaning towards the pro-ject debut carbon. Can anyone convince me that there would be a better TT to use around that price? I have thought about getting this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pro-ject...?skuId=5655630 as that platter and speed select do seem like a nice upgrade for not much over the base DC. I think that esprit is kinda ugly but i'm going for sound not looks lol

Is the acrylic worth it? Anything I'd need to consider? In my reading I'd seen where some 180g records may be a bit thicker and the acrylic platter can sometimes lead to height issues? Anyone have a favorite pre-amp they like? I plan on using a receiver and speakers that I already have - eventually will upgrade those but wanted to have a solid TT to start.

    Thanks for any thoughts guys!

Oh one more question to load this post, how the heck do you figure out what pressing you have of a record? If you are getting something off Amazon is it usually just whatever the most recent pressing is? That part seems to really confuse me when it comes to the albums. Thanks again!

Any thoughts reviews on the Yamaha r-s500bl stereo receiver? On sale at adorama right now. https://www.adorama.com/yars500bl.ht...ce=rflaid62905 thinking about picking one up.

Or would something like this be a better buy? I don't much about receivers. Only looking for something for my tt. Would these receivers have enough juice to power must, or all speakers?

Hey y'all. I need a pre-amp. Unfortunately, I need to go as cheaply as possible. Do either of these look fine? I know nothing about them. My last receiver didn't need one.

Easily the best I have ever heard that album. The CD/streaming version is completely brickwalled and the first time I played that MOV version I was like Daaaaaamn.

The new reissue comes out today as well, but I haven't been able to find any sourcing/mastering info on it. I can't imagine that it's any better than the MOV version and there's a good chance it's worse if it's just the CD master used.

Keep in mind the MOV version uses the same as the original stampers so it was not mastered by MOV, it was mastered by Vlado Meller. It may be more dynamic, but it's not like MOV were sent flat files to master from like they were with Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, etc.

Yeah. as far as I can tell, the MOV version is the same master as the original vinyl pressing.

It's not perfect, but the difference between this and the CD is *extremely* noticeable. Way more separation, much more lifelike sound, and not nearly as fatiguing at high volumes (which, let's face it, is really how this album is meant to be played. )

I'd love a full on remaster done by someone like Bellman/Gray/Grundman/etc but as of now this is definitely the best sounding version of this album out there.

The SRC reissue that came out today, I haven't been able to find a single bit of information about it so I don't know that it was remastered at all or if it's the same master as the original and the MOV.

How do you know which version it is? Is it the newly released one that nobody knows anything about or the previous one that everyone is saying sounds really good?

The link that he provide lists it as an 'Import', so that one is likely the MOV version as the new SRC reissue is not an import. I believe this is the link for the new reissue:

    https://www.amazon.com/Audioslave/dp...3077249&sr=8-1

I absolutely HATE that they lump all reviews for the same title together - CD release, all different vinyl pressings, all in one mess.

It's a few more bucks, but you can guarantee the MOV version on a Discogs purchase:

    https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/2318647?ev=rb

I'm interested to hear any feedback on this new SRC version. It might be the exact same stampers as the original pressing and the MOV version, in which case it'll sound the same.

If you search for MOVLP081 and order from that page, if they send you one that isn't MOVLP081 then you get a hassle free return with paid return shipping - I find most sellers, in fact all sellers I've ordered from, list the MOV LPs correctly but the review thing does suck ass. I've complained so many times to Amazon about that.
