Re: The NBA Thread

read into the Adams 2/25 and Nance 2/21 extensions through 2025

for Memphis it’s interesting bc they could’ve let Adams, Brooks, and Clarke walk to free up 27m in space, so Adams extension makes that impossible. indicates that they’ll likely invest in retaining Brooks and the rest of the young core, and pretty much be an over the cap team for the next few offseasons rather than a free agent player (duh for a small market)

also the most team friendly deal Adams has ever signed lol

for Nance, New Orleans obviously likes him as he’s become one of the more versatile bigs in the league, but this along with the recent signings ensures New Orleans will be flirting with the tax in the coming years. expensive team with very little flexibility and huge expectations to win, so man i hope Williamson is back to superstar form

so basically these two are putting a lot of pressure on themselves. win now. joining the likes of Clippers, Denver, Dallas, and Phoenix, and Minnesota, and i guess the Lakers

the east is better right now but the west has all the “all in” teams which is exciting. though i guess you have a Warriors sized roadblock to ruin all those win-now plans

preseason highlights fun. cool to see Ben Simmons and Jamal Murray back in action. Keegan Murray is fun to watch. Banchero looks freaking huge out there

amazing recovery protecting the rim, amazing shooting touch, lightning quick blocks

kinda weak on the boards bringing it down, not super comfortable rolling to the basket on offense, a step slow being drawn away from the rim but not nearly as bad going out on guards as you’d expect.

    love it tbh

Henderson is just Jalen Green but can shoot…which is a p great player tbh. has a bit more change in pace to his game which i love, but the explosion to the rim is Rose/Wall esque

in this 4th quarter quite a mature playmaker too, i like it

    Re: The NBA Thread

official scout, and they suit up again Thursday ah!!’

    Wembanyama

Incredible shooting touch. That step back three miss where he was fouled was nasty. Dude will be shooting 15 threes/100 poss. He is a #1 prospect on shooting touch alone. Dho, pick and pop, faceup, mid post, fast break, whatever

Nice post play late in the 4th, doesn’t matter as he won’t get a ton of those looks in the NBA tbh. But a jump hook is always nice for a center no matter what, and he has one

Looks absolutely lost running the pnr as a roller. Needs more reps.

Completely soft on the boards, yikes.

Incredible second jump, and recovery in general across the lane. Will be an all time rim protector and help defender tbh

Awfully slow switching out to guards, but not horrible. Al Horford level at worst. Only about a step behind Scoot Henderson’s drive who is lightning quick, then got a nice block on his attack of the rim at the end of the game. A little late reading the timing when he’s on the weak side or caught in a switch away from the basket tbh
    —————-

    Henderson

Good natural shooting touch. Not a ton of range like Trae Young, rises up a bit slow, but it’s good enough. Impeccable Irving like handle- changes speeds, quick dribbles, can finish with both hands on either side of the basket. Extremely polished for his age.

Similar to Cade Cunningham in how he reads the game, but Rose/Wall like in his explosion to the rim. That control of speed is the most exciting part of his game, given that he is willing to make plays for his teammates. Found a couple of “easy” next pass away shooters which was nice, and had a good pocket pass on the pnr. Is a patient floor general, had control of the game and setting up his teammates communicatively.

Will still need patience tbh. Point guards take forever to develop no matter how good.

tldr: 0-82. shut Johnson and Poeltl down by Thanksgiving. Henderson is superstar talent, Wembanyama is generational talent

Harden looks good. I assume Philly is one of the favorites to come out of East?

they have a solid team but will need maxey and thybulle to step up and for harris to score much more, harden can't really do it on his own

they don’t need Thybulle at all with Tucker/Melton/House eating the majority of the guard lineups in real games.

those guys are also insurance that you never need to play the defensive atrocity of Harden and Maxey together unless absolutely necessary

literally anything Thybulle or Niang contribute is a bonus. if Niang can actually make a shot this year that’s another incredibly productive playoff piece

and if Maxey can improve even a little more, holy crap

Harris is the odd man out sure but you take his offense when he’s on, and when he’s not you can definitely afford to sit him in big moments now too tbh

yeah just generally seems like harden and a bunch of nice pieces won't be enough, but we'll see

You’re never going to convince me a James Harden team is the odds on favorite for winning something.

That only becomes more emphasized when you have a guy like Embiid who can’t stay healthy.

Philly has the 4th best odds to win the east

    1. Celtics
    2. Bucks
    3. Nets
    4. 76ers

    Per whom? Vegas?

The homer in me probably goes Bucks, 76ers, Celtics and that’s only because who knows what the hell is going to happen with Boston without Udoka.

All the major betting sites. The only 1 difference i'm seeing is Draftkings has Brooklyn at 2 and Milwaukee at 3, the rest all have the same top 4

Beam is correct, not sure why I said odds on favorite, prob bc i have a huge position on Philadelphia lol. and Milwaukee and Brooklyn for that matter

the doubts are understandable, but doesn’t change that the Sixers are the deepest team in the league in terms of playoff caliber guys, outside maybe the Clippers. i’ve gotta let any Harden bias go, with caution

crazy how the Udoka thing hasn’t spooked the books. for me, my thought is to short them on a Brown/Tatum regression, on top of the Robert Williams situation. last year’s playoffs exposed weaknesses that the league will adjust to imo, especially for Brown

i think that Boston price falls quite a bit midseason

was about to post the same thing. Celtics have been the vegas favorites out of EC since the finals.

Clippers at +700 and Golden State at +700 is still a really good price

    Milwaukee +650 still pretty good

    Philadelphia +1600 best price imo

and i guess Lakers +2500 is worth a small position, considering the Turner/Hield trade will likely happen at some point, or something better comes along. at the end of the day a healthy James/Davis in April is way better than that price

Denver at +2000 and Dallas at +2700, i don’t actually think they have a chance but not too bad

Got our season tickets for the Nugs at work again this year. Across from the visitors bench, lower bowl.

Already snagged all 4 for Lakers on October 26 and Cavs on Jan 6. Might try and snag a Warriors night too.

bruh if i’m a contender that has a bad first half of the season im tanking.

at this point i’d trade a 2nd or 3rd teamer on draft night for Wembanyama. screw it. Lillard, Booker, Towns, Young. screw it
