Whoever said the idea for 1/2 or 1/3 full stadiums might be right on the money for DMB. The current slew of dates they have scheduled won't be able to happen. If they hadn't already sold tickets, they could just announce a normal tour schedule and do 1/2 capacity, for example. But these shows/dates will most likely be cancelled. Maybe instead of the 2 nights at Deer Creek, for example, they could do 2 nights at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indy, and have those people spread throughout the stadium

It'd be much simpler to just cancel the entire tour and then announce a bunch of stadium dates at reduced capacity, I think. I am depressed about the probability that 2021 is also fucked because of this.
I honestly don't think I would go to a local stadium show for this or most any other band; I just feel like something is lost in stadium shows and if it was at 1/3-1/2 capacity? No thanks.

Everything is speculation at this point but I'm going to guess infection / hospitalization rates drop throughout '21 making a summer tour starting in June iffy but one starting in August doable.

Yeah I am not a fan of stadium shows either. I also think a 1/3 fill stadium kind of sounds depressing. However, at this point I’ll take what I can get.

I hope you’re right about next summer. I’m not optimistic, but I do hope you’re right!

Here in CT, UCONN Basketball said they will not be playing in Hartford because the venue came right out and said unless its about 90% full they won't make any money. Butts in seats. Thats the bottom line here.

These baseball teams and football teams can afford to not sell 60k tickets because they have TV money as the primary revenue source today. Tickets, concessions etc are not where the money is made in sports but its the sole source of income on a tour. If people don't go they don't make money. Can a live act be profitable at 50% capacity at Fenway, Citi, MetLife etc?

Mohegan holds about 12k from what I remember. Will 5-6k people pay 150+ a ticket to see a show so they can remain profitable? Thats the real question. Not if they will tour, but what would the cost of a scrapped tour, total refunds and a new "socially distanced" tour where every other seat is sold at a higher amount to make up for the lost revenue.

Yup. Tours happening or not have little to do with safety or the virus. Its about money. Can they make any money by playing shows? They will do their due diligence and do the math to see if there is financial viability to a tour. The decision for bands to tour ir not will be purely financial.

Hopefully the math shows that tours can be profitable and they come out and put on a show in whatever way works.

I could see some of the places happening because they can afford to not have the venue full like Mohegan (because its a casino) or they really would want to get people into the area for the local economy (Saratoga for example). Not sure about the exact makeup of every area where venues are but you are right. Its going to be a financial decision. And it should be BTW. When it comes down to it, this is their job and a lot of people count on them for their paychecks.

"it will not be purely financial... but hopefully math shows it can be profitable"

if you are trying to say they will do it and it wont be because of money... you probably shouldnt then go on to say hope the math shows they make a profit...

I said it WILL be purely financial and that I hope that the math shows they can make a profit and therefore will tour in whatever way works best.

Really hope these shows happen. They'll be the first opening shows of a tour I've gone to since Hartford in 2010. Also had plans to see tons of friends. Unfortunately, it's not looking good.

I saw a report today that said they think it's possible, not necessarily likely, but possible, that they could have enough doses of a vaccine for every American by the end of spring. If something remotely like that happens then tours will absolutely be happening.

Like if we are anywhere near that being reality we will be back to normal at that point.

I was thinking the other day that if a band can play at a location where you'd have to watch the show in a boat, that might work. It certainly would for the social distancing part because you'd be chilling in your boat and you'd be more than 6 feet from the next boat. I guess it would have to be for rich people or anyone has a boat, but I'd love to be on a fishermen's boat with a few friends chilling watching DMB from some location that you can actually see from your boat.

Or just parking lots and cars drive in style. This has been happening through out the country and in other countries.

My god. The "run to the pit" area in front of some barge would look like the beginning to some wild fishing tournament, bumper boats and would kill 14 people drunk on white claws and box wine.

    .....could be fun

I was at Mohegan yesterday and asked if the show was officially still on they said yes and that they are still selling tickets. All common sense with it being early and indoors would make me think these shows are a no-go but Mohegan is not saying that yet.. Any other info anyone has on this? If somehow these shows go I need to take off work..

I have no official info to share, but when I'm logged into my Mohegan account, hotel rooms the nights of the shows start at $199/night, which is way down from about $379 a month ago.

I mean until the promoter gives the word i would not expect the venue to say otherwise. Think how that would look ? Venue gives out info before band or promoter ???? The June shows are are not going to happen.

It would be great of Blackjack made a comeback, but they played at this arena in 2012 and 2018 and didn't play it either time.

I'm confused as shit. Are they still honoring tickets for the cancelled show from last June? I'm on Ticketmaster now and I'm seeing that 6/9/21 tickets are available right now. Can someone offer some clarity for me, por favor?

I'm so pissed I screwed up on the drop this morning.

I saw the pits listed as GA FLOOR, so didn't get any thinking it'll be easy to score them later on.

well it's not a GA FLOOR, it's a GA pit in front of seats (the same setup as the most recent arena shows).

    I'm so pissed.

Working from home for during the tour, tour closer taking place in your home area, when your Dad's house is 15 minutes from Mohegan... this couldn't have worked out any better! Pits for N2... woowhoooooo.

Yeah, going to be great to close out the tour. I'm going N1, but hopefully that vibe happens both nights! Now just need everything to be a go for an indoor venue 6 months from now...<fingers crossed>
