i think its the Hilton, but there is one hotel (at least) in AC that will have some sort of discount. the website for the hotel has Starr Hill Conference june 24-26 and has a block of rooms set aside. when you click on the link, it is password protected. i'm assuming that will be discussed in the final announcement.

I know a few people mentioned using their AAA to get some of the AC hotels cheaper... however I logged in through mine and it seems like all of the hotels are the same price as usual. Anyone else come across this?
You do not want to walk from the Borgata to anywhere but Harrah's. If you think you are walking from Brogata to the beach/boardwalk you might be taking your life in your hands if it's at night. They had their first murder last night in the city, somebody got beaten to death. I am surprised it lasted over a month and half without one but your walking down MLK Blvd to get to the boardwalk from the Borgata. Not recommended for DMB fans.
Don't stay at any motels/hotels on the Black Horse Pike(Route 40)

So don't stay at any hotel on Black Horse Pike? This is where I've found the cheapest hotels. But I'm going to check into the shore houses.

Most of those hotels are straight up flophouses. Same with the stretch south of Absecon and north of AC that I mentioned earlier on Route 30. Those places are fucking DUMPS.

Honestly, if you're not into AC prices check into Absecon -- there are several perfectly safe/clean hotels there by the Harley dealership. You'll be a little further out though, and remember this is the shore during summer so you're looking at around $200 a night anywhere you go (unless you have a AAA or other discount).

As Dave Chappelle said when I saw him down there, "Man, Borgata casino! This place is fuckin' nice! Atlantic City's not nice..."

Here's the thing, guys -- I would NOT recommend walking to the shows from ANY casino. The city is really fucking shitty as you get further from the casinos. The area immediately along the boardwalk and about a block inward (where they recently put in a bunch of new shops and restaurants) is alright, but if you go more than a couple blocks out it can get really rough really quick. What looks like a mile walk from a boardwalk casino includes at least half a mile of straight up fucking ghetto and projects.

Maybe I'm being overcautious, but I'm just trying to look out for the folks who might be hitting AC for the first time.

Well not 100% sure as I stayed at a different hotel than the one they had the deal at, but I want to say that the price difference between booking through the hotel vs. the WH must have been savings of around $30-40 per night if i remember correctly.

I was thinking the same thing. Looking to stay at Hilton or Trop, which look like the closest casinos to the grounds.

But if they don't have shuttles, what is the other option? I've only been to AC twice and it was during the offseason so taking a cab was fine. How will cabs be in the midst of their busiest weekend?

I have stayed at a hampton in on the black horse pike and it really wasnt that bad. I think theres also a Ramada a block or two closer to AC. Also if you are staying at the Hilton it is pretty nuts to get a taxi or shuttle. It is an easy walk and with all the people around it should be safe. Im staying in ventnor and walking. Will probably be quicker than taking a taxi with all the traffic.

Am also curious about this. Just booked a couple rooms here given the price and the fact that its refundable.

Has anyone stayed here before? How painful will it be to get to and from the shows? Definitely not planning to walk but was thinking at least for getting to the shows, you could walk down the boardwalk to grab a taxi / shuttle towards the other side of the island.

Would love to book the Trop but pricing-wise this is a reasonably slick deal. Am hoping for an attractive WH option but not expecting anything this cheap.

Being a lifelong resident of AC, I'll try to answer some questions already posted.

Bader Field is about a half mile from the boardwalk. The walk is NOT through the ghetto. Albany Ave. is a commercial part of the city. There's a great waterfront bar caller the Wonder Bar at the foot of the bridge with a dock for boats to pull into.

The Hilton is the closest, Showboat is the furthest Casino from Bader Field along the boardwalk. Borgota and Trump Marina are on the other side of town and are nowhere near the fest. If you stay at any casinos, there are plenty of public transportation. My advice is to walk the boardwalk or take the Jitney. It makes frequent stops along the strip and will get you to Albany Ave. witch turns into Rt 40.
DO NOT stay at any of the no name hotels along Rt 40. Especially the Golden Key.

As for parking, I'm sure there will be some on site. They'll most likely have shuttles from parking garages further in the city.

FYI. The BEST bar in the city is The Irish Pub & Inn on St. James and the Boardwalk. Great atmosphere and incredible prices for food and drink.

For those who have not seen.

http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/c...cc4c03286.html

"Public Works Director Paul Jerkins confirmed Wednesday night that he took representatives from Red Light Management on a tour of the Bader Field site earlier in the day. Although Jerkins said he has been given no details about the concert or the scheduled entertainment, Dave Matthews Band is one of Red Light Managment's clients.

Sources said Bader Field will feature three stages during the three-day event, including a main stage for the headliner and two small stages for other bands."

Hahah, by the night even though it looks like it should be by the hour... about 350 for the whole weekend in walking distance to Bader Field, that works for me

They said hookers are extra though... go figure

I am possibly wanting to go to this show, though i will be alone on this one. Just wondering any Pennsylvanians wanna save some $$ and travel with? I checked with my cousin(SteelersBus), and he is a no-go for the festivals this year. And nobody else, that i have checked with are free that weekend. Hell, to be quite honest, you dont even have to be from PA. But id think splitting costs between everything other than tickets, is fair, yes? But if anyone is interested, shoot me a msg on here.

You probably won't wanna walk there. The neighborhoods are pretty sketchy, I'd say you're better off staying 10-15 minutes outside the city and driving in.

Thanks SO much for the info!!!

So thrilled to hear this news. I'm only 45 minutes north of AC.
