I've tried telling myself that for the longest time, and week after week im disappointed. Save for a couple of eps. this season, it's been weak, much like S4. This thread is evidence of the show's downfall. It still is one of the best shows on TV, but if it were true to its form of the first 3 seasons, this thread would be hopping.

    Re: The Soprano's

I have to admit that I am starting to get a little pissed. Last season had its slow moments but overall I thought it was good because the characters seem to develop a lot more than in any other season. This season just seems to drag on and on and on. I agree with whoever posted a while ago that I'm getting to the point where I want to see everybody in the whole Soprano family get whacked. They're all just a bunch of big babies(I even retract my earlier statements about Carmela, she is becoming a SUPER KING KONG MEGA MEGA BIATCH!).

I remember reading an article right before the release of the new episodes, that David Chase had planned on this being the last season, but HBO talked him in to 10 more episodes before starting to film this season. I'm starting to think that these episodes are just a bunch a crap that they came up with to fill in the story he already intended to conclude in this season. It seems like all these stories start and just end. No nicely woven threads like previous seasons, its beginning to have the feel of a sitcom. All the stories seem self contained in the episode. You really don't need to be a fan to catch on. Its a slap in the face to those of us who are devoted and are actually fans. Everything they do related to the mob has a slapstick feel to these days. With the exception of Tony last week with Phil Leotardo (and the situation with Chrissy but he didn't actually kill Chrissy so it loses most of its merit), every single hit or tough situation has been very comical as opposed to dramatic.

I see this as a lack of interest on the part of the writers and people involved with the show that will ultimately result in the same from the viewers. I think HBO threw enough money his way that he was willing to come up with something to do in between now and what he already knows will be the end of the series. It seems like this season is setting up to have nothing to do with the next and with the exception of Carmela & Tony's separation, which i will admit is a big exception, really has no reference to the previous season. My understanding is that we only have 5 episodes left. Is this all we're gonna get? Blundetto "might" get whacked. Carmela is gonna become an even bigger "bitch". Junior is gonna die of self-pitty. Nothings happening in New York, even though it already should have. I mean come on, all these episodes about old people are getting ridiculous. How many old people do you think really watch this show. Try speaking to your audiecne.

    Sorry, I'm just venting...

In Conclusion, I hope it gets better from here, but I'm not holding my breath. No matter what happens from here on out, these first eight episodes have and will forever be a huge let down. Even the episode with Adrianna and Tony loses merit for being associated with this bunch of lousy episodes. i will continue to watch until the conclusion of the series but I don't see myself buying Season 5 anytime soon. With the way this season is shaping up, they better get season 6 out soon, because if it stays like this I don't think there will be many people interested in what happens to the Soprano Family a year and a half from now, like they were this time.

just my $.02 & frustrations with the show(characters) i love so much.

    Peace,
    . . : : G H B : : . .

    GHB -

I think you hit the nail on the head perfectly. One huge letdown is this New York thing. What ever happened to this all-out war with New York that was supposed to happen? The ball has been dropped so many times (*cough* Russian *cough*) that it's just one big letdown after another.

Well I finally got caught up with the previous two episodes. I really didn't like the one with Tony and his dad's mistress. It seemed really boring.

I did however enjoy the recent one with Carmela's dads birthday party. I was kind of shocked that Tony and Carmela got back together for a night. I deep down kind of wish they work out their differences, but I do not think it will happen. I'm also glad to see more of Tony B. He really bit off more than he can chew for Tony and this New York thing. Tommorow nights episode looks really good.

My brother and I were watching, and kind of looked at each other like what? It was a little startling. We thought that Finn was going to have an unfortunate construction accident.

I'm sorry to be a pesimist, but things are starting to pick up wth four episodes left. I liked yesterday's episode but it was long overdue. we should've been watching episodes like that one way back at week 2 & 3. still nothing of substance yet...

    Thoughts about this week's episode.....

Johnny Sack knows Blundetto killed Peeps.

Finn is a spoiled SoCal pussy. Meadow deserves better.

    Vito is gay.

    Carmela realized Tony is untouchable.

Tony on therapy: "It's like taking a shit."

Is this a sign of things turning around for this series? The last three episodes, in my opinion, have been fantastic. It had gotten to the point where I was disappointed with pretty much everything since Pine Barrens, but these last three have just been great! And from everything I read, next week's ep. (The Test Dream), is a dream episode with all kinds of old characters making returns. It's about effin time this series got back on its feet. Let's hope it's back to stay.

Mighta been The Kinks. Try hbo.com. I know that 'University', S3E06, started out with "Livin' on a Thin Line" by The Kinks. Great tune.

I actually liked the episode because it seemed like a real dream. How they kept changing topics every 45 seconds. I liked when he was in the bathroom and he checked behind the toilet ala "The Godfather"

So far this season and last season they just keep trying to develop characters as much as possible. I think this was great because you actually know what Tony is thinking deep down.

There are so many allusions to The Godfather in this show it's great.

This was a very strange episode, definitely not the greatest. Did anyone catch who wrote it? Normally Michael Imperioli writes the great episodes, I hope he didnt' write this.

I'm all for a Carm & Tony reunion. I want them back together so badly.

I read in the paper that Adrianna is the next to go, and Silvio's gonna whack her. It looks like Ade's next.

A war is on.....this is gonna be one hell of a season!
