Work until 6. Have a roast chicken and potatoes with a few friends at 10. Draw names for our secret santa. Having a real thanksgiving celebration on Saturday December 2. It’s my favourite day of the year and the day that’s hardest to be so far from home. But at least it’ll be with lots food, drinks and friends. Should be a good time.

I'm going to do a maple brine for the one going on the smoker and a standard brine for the one in the oven.

this year we are with my wife's family, so we're heading to the in-laws tomorrow, they're just a few miles away. next year with my family, and the cycle continues.

i like that we are either with her family or mine for the day. no debate, no quabbles, no driving to 2 different locations in a few hours time.

Driving to South Carolina in the morning to have Thanksgiving at my sister's. I'm going to enjoy the food and hope our family avoids politics like the plague.

For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would want to discuss politics during "family time" at Thanksgiving. Makes no sense.

I'm the only liberal in my family, so it always comes up. My family is hardcore Republican. I can't escape it.

Ahh. That would suck. Can they not talk about politics during the eating portion of the day? At least then you can escape to another room to watch football or something.

Nope, it's like they intentionally bring it up to mess with me. My stepdad is a huge Trump guy, so anytime we see each other he'll say something like "see that stock market?" or something like that.

Covering a football game in the morning (NJ has traditional rivalry games on Thanksgiving that are fun but affects having a true state championship playoff).

Once I’m done with that all the cousins are gonna gather for some old timer football action, and then drink and eat and watch football. It’ll be glorious as always.
