Re: what was the rarest / most unique song at your first DMB show?

my first show was 1/14/2004, so probably that whole show

SUAD played by Dave and Friends may be the "rarest"

Leave Me Praying. Only 12th time played ... it was only played 14 more times that year and never again (since it evolved into DDTW).

The personal story of that show was interesting. Really hooked me as a fan though.
I went to a few shows in Hartford between 96 and 98 but honestly don't really remember which ones specifically and don't have the stubbs, it was more of a party back then.
This was my first show I remember, at the old Foxboro stadium and really got me hooked. I still have the 2/24/95 show I bought in the lot that day and love of my life is still the longest song waiting liberation on my almanac.

First full band Bartender opener with Roi on Oboe. 6/14/2008, maybe the most underrated version of that song.

For the Beauty of Wynonna w/Mitch Rutman (the band's caterer at the time).

Only played 33 times by the full band, and only twice with Mitch.

does any other band have crew members guest with them like DMB does? this is at least 3 now that i know of. lawlor, of course, and then at gorge last year elijah, buddy's keyboard tech, guested on a bunch of songs (somewhat out of necessity, but still). have there been any other crew members guest?

I have seen a lot of "rare" stuff including...
    full 40
    34
    different guests

but ones that I enjoyed best and are def uncommon...
    36
    "reconcile our differences"
solo Nancies at SPAC (I have seen solo shows but not since like 93 have quality songs been typically played solo and full band shows)

Re: what was the rarest / most unique song at your first DMB show?

Alpine 08.09.2008, I was a sophomore in high school

Spoon liberation and I'm pretty sure it was only played once more that tour

They also opened with my favorite song of all time (Dancing Nancies), which apparently hadn't opened a show since 2000, played water into wine twice, and also got my second favorite song, Halloween which in itself was sort of rare at the time

Still the best show I've ever seen and the show that made me see DMB every year since (saw my 30th show this summer).

Chula Vista 8.26.2006 - Unique/Rare things that happened:

Loving Wings & Butterfly tour debuts

Raven, If I Had It All and a Little Thing tease, aside from the TDs are and were pretty rare.

Only 6 Seek Ups that tour and I got one of those (the 2nd and 3rd verses were swapped)

Tripping Billies featured the Nature intro

Alfredo Ballesteros guested on 9 songs (If I Had It All, Raven, Louisiana Bayou, Idea of You, Jimi Thing, Triplets, Two Step)

Robert Randolph guested on Two Step.

(wasn't present, but Break For It under "Run While We Can" was soundchecked)

That link has all 3 versions. Mine was the second one. I just remember vibing to the whole show. My first dmb experience was Dave and Tim earlier that year so I was just kinda blown away at the dmb show.

I'll have to go with Shotgun. Riverbend 8/22/07. It was a ho hum show for the times, although Dreamgirl and Eh Hee turned into rare songs. For What Its Worth outro to Jimi is always nice to see too.

Help Myself was not rare for the 2004 tour, but I haven't seen it again in my 74 shows since Raleigh 04.

First show was Raleigh 2014. Got the only Belly Belly Nice ever that had a Dave solo guitar intro. Encore was changed from Nancies > Minarets to So Much > Halloween.

First show was 8/13/98 in Dallas, TX. A few things about that show were unique and rare. The first being that crickets overtook the stage and pissed off Carter so much, he left the stage during the Jimi Thing jam. The band noodled for a bit before launching into the first ever "full band" Spoon. Carter came back near the end of Spoon and added some cymbal crashes. They played one more song, Stay, and then the band decided to play the with the house lights on during the second half of the set to keep the crickets off of them. Also featured a Crash/Tower encore like LT57.
