no, it gives how a specific example of parenting that isn't authoritarianism. from a psychology standpoint, authorintarian parenting is a pretty common thing.

no, and the article isn't making that claim. there are plenty of examples of people in here, who, when confronted with something they may disagree with, automatically try to shut it down and/or resort to name calling instead of actually engaging

Yeah I mean I think the best way to ultimately deal with someone coming in here and accusing people of being "liberal authoritarians" is to just completely ignore it.

There are for sure posters in here who dismiss or don't engage with the merits of certain posts with views they disagree with, but to me it always feels less like they want to shut down certain ideas across the board and more that there are just certain posters they have no interest in hearing from.

Calling it authoritarian gets a little academic for my tastes, I don't really know about that; I think they just find certain posters really annoying

that's probably a fair assessment there's definitely a "shut up and fall in line" sentiment in here though whenever someone brings in any type of remote criticism though.

If you (royal) are instilling the values you wish to instill on your kids they are going to know when they want to disassociate with someone.

If Smoke’s kid goes to FJB’s kids house and the dad is spewing out hatred, I’d venture to guess that because Smoke is a good dude and has taught his kid well, his kid comes home and tells him about it. Maybe even says he doesn’t want to go over there anymore.

It'd honestly just depend for me on how long my kids had been friends/how long I had known the guy before this shirt reveal happened.

If my kid just started kindergarten or something and this was the first play date with the kid/first impression of the dad, I'd probably steer him gently in a different direction.

If they'd been buddies for a couple years, I had met the dad before and generally gotten an ok vibe from him otherwise, then I probably wouldn't do much about it tbh.
