Whoa--unexpected tear-jerk over morning coffee.
I think that story says something very deep and illustrative about who Dave really is, versus how Dave is perceived.
It's really telling that the guy was pissed off that Dave "just played a couple songs and left," and it was only because he pursued it more deeply that he learned that Dave went above and beyond what ever could have been expected of him. And he was completely selfless. He didn't announce, "OK, sorry now kids--off to play songs for the kids who couldn't make it! The world needs me!"
He just humbly, quietly did something extraordinary, no fanfare, no self-congratulation. And then his payment is being perceived as a prick.
I would say it's like a Jesus thing, but people would take that the wrong way, so I'll just say he's like the Saitama of music.
