Come Tomorrow producers teaser

https://youtu.be/aOJjtsZdK6E

Felt like this was getting buried elsewhere and needs its own thread

I would love to see this turned into a full documentary

I agree. I have to believe there will be more to this. There has to be, right? Why get these four guys at a round table for 80 seconds or content?

I think this confirms they're using old songs recorded in the past for this album. Or at least old vocals/music maybe?

Well if they use any Roi music then that is automatically true

    I doubt it's vocals

Yeah if you pause the video real quick at the beginning, the clapperboard reads "DMB Producer Doc" which could be alluding to something bigger like a full documentary with the guys, or just a little title for the teaser we already got.

Would be awesome if we got a bunch of behind the scenes stuff!

Interesting teaser, but give me some substance next time! I found myself wondering what were Cavallo's favorite two tunes on the album

That's what a teaser is.. a bit to get you more interested.. The fact that you wonder what Cavallo's favorite two tunes are on the album suggests that it did its job.

That's the implication I take out of it. Do You Remember might be the newest of all of the songs on the album, while the other new songs evolved from 2005-2009 variety of sessions which are now getting to see the light of day.

Mark Batson's giddy (self) promotion only reminds me of the first time i didn't purchase the new album / had zero-to-little interest in it. Years later when i got a hold of the bonus jam track he and cater worked on only confirmed this guy should work more with band promotions/marketing and not so much in-studio.

Mark Batson really enjoys his booze.

    Re: Come Tomorrow producers teaser

Did I miss it in the original promotion of “Stand Up” where it was called a hip-hop concept album at the time? Batson calls it that in this clip, and now that record (and why I didn’t like it) makes so much more sense. If the producer (and the band) set out to purposefully make a hip hop meets DMB record, then I understand why it turned out the way it did. I remember thinking, “With a drummer like Carter, why on earth are you using a drum machine and samples?”

So I guess it wasn’t really that Batson didn’t “get” the band. It was an intentional effort to make a hip-hop record, and “Stand Up” was the result.

Wonder if the whole band was on board with that decision, or if, like “Everyday,” it was Dave + a new producer deciding between the two of them what the record would sound like, and the rest of the band had to follow along.

I'm sorry but if the lead marketing message for the new album is the number of producers, we have a problem.

How is it a problem? It just speaks to the expansiveness of the project.

it speaks to the fact that most casual music fans could care less about a producer. or knows what a producer even does on an album.

it's showing "how the sausage is made"...or "peeking behind the curtain" instead of just letting the music speak for itself.

has any band, outside of U2, had as many studio/producer struggles as DMB?

Couldn't disagree more. Who better to speak about the album than people directly involved in making it? Sure, having band members would have been cool, perhaps we get that next week?

The music is for all fans this video might be more geared to hardcore fans who do know and care about the producers.

This is a "Best of" album. It's what Dave wanted to release the last time w Lillywhite but was (thankfully) talked out of.

It's total hogwash the band reaches back to an old recording from an old session with a questionable producer just so LeRoi can be credited??

Batson is nutso and a stooge! He thinks his involvement here will justify his Stand Up album. He recently said: "We only scratched the surface with Stand Up..."

Stand Up is the album They SHOULD HAVE SHELVED and considered cutting down on the booze moving forward.

Looking back on this era of DMB, I believe Batson when he said the band (or at least Dave) wanted a hip hop inspired album. I remember Jurassic 5 opened for DMB that year, and the next year Dave sang the chorus on their song Work It Out. Black Eyed Peas also opened for DMB at least once in 2006. Maybe this is just a misperception caused by my own changing life, but I believe hip hop/rap was getting more radio play at that time than they do now—it wasn't quite as much 'pop' back then. But maybe I was just listening to more of it then IDK.

Practically ever DMB album producer will say (usually within same week of the record's release) that the great thing about DMB is they will take these new songs on the road and continue working on them, reconstructing arrangements and lyrics as well. So our album isn't really finalized, that's what's so 'cool,' the studio sessions ended, now production continues on the road.

I'd ask which producer will be the first to make concessions, but it's painfully obvious Batson already has that 'we only scratched the gangster' tweet drafted.
