    This band is so fucked

Has Light Lift me up vibe- kept looking for the hook, didnt grab me but expect it will with full band.

But how many of us want them to rework a song or two of unreleased shit for this album ? They won't but man would I like to see them revisit a 2004 or 2006 song or two

    Re: Mercy

I think it's a pretty decent sign....I hate that Dave is back to worrying about the state of the nation (and if this song is a sentiment that "things are in danger if my guy doesn't get elected", then BARF), but I'm glad that he's not back to describing this same sentiment with lines like "still make lemonade taste like a sunny day" or "stay beautiful baby, I hope you stay American baby".

Sounds like Out of My Hands but on guitar instead of piano. Not sure that's a great thing. Ibrealllllly hope this doesn't become Stand Up part deux.

    Re: Mercy

not terrible but not great upon first listen. i like the vibe, the music and the lyrics at least don't make me cringe. but why does he have to be so literal these days?

i actually prefer Sweet to this song. i just wish he would stop trying to change the world and just write those nice introspective, wordy lyrics like he used to. he is so much better at that.

i hope this was written to be a single and the rest are much better.

Yeah, yeah it does. For whatever reason I thought primitive was primative as in, having primate like qualities. Turns out I'm wrong.

This song is definitely not indicative of the entire album. There's a reason that he played this song at an Obama-support event.

Well, the actual etymological root of the word does have an "A" there, except that it's "primary" rather than "primate."

You think Dave will do anything but continue to decline into lame talentless mush over the next five years? You are bad at appraising future values as well.

What are we getting from Canada in exchange for POTUS? What is the impetus behind this deal we're making?

    Re: Mercy

Thematically it's "Dive In" minus the polar bear, and even more straightforwardly worded... but...

Not too bad. The second half is better than the first, I think. He just really fights to squeeze those long, wordy lines in, and it doesn't always feel like a natural flow.

But I can see this being his contribution to the Obama campaign--it's definitely ready-made for that.

Yeah, way to be a total prick. I was being optimistic and I'm just saying that there's a reason that Dave picked this song to play at an Obama event. I don't KNOW anything, but it's doubtful that the album is full of those lyrics.
