Dysons really never clog. And they are super easy to empty - no bags or mess, just hold the container over a trash can, pull the trigger, and you're done.

Anyone buy a vacuum lately? We had an Oreck for 18 years that just died and we have a Dyson Omni-Glide but it can't keep up with the hair from my German Shepherd. Looking for suggestions.

Dyson Telescope is one of the best puzzle games. Yes, it's the same company. They made a puzzle game in order to sell vacuums.

Nothing recent, but we bought a cheaper Shark 2 or 3 years ago that is great with dog hair on both hard and carpeted surfaces. Its nothing fancy, but very light weight and does the job.

Thanks. I priced a David (used to be Oreck) at over $900, a Dyson at $499. I never even thought about a Shark. I googled them and found one on an early Black Friday deal for half price. It will be here Tuesday. Only cost me $99. Thanks for the recommendation. Even if it isn't quite as good, for that price it is certainly worth trying it out.

Sharks are good for their price range. Treat them well and they'll last you, but don't expect it to last if you're heavier on the vacuuming. That's my experience.

    ... remember vacuum bags?

That was one factor with the David vacuum. 6 bags for $26. That will add up with the amount of dog hair we vacuum up each day.

We also have a Shark pet version or something with lots of attachments that's been great for several years now but yeah we also have people clean our house so don't use it too much.

Also got this cordless one for the occasional mess that we really like.

We also have a Shark (and two shedding border collies). I love it. Its super lightweight and its pretty easy to clean.

My only gripes: the canister doesn't hold much and I have to empty it after each room (I vacuum every other day).

Also I wish I would have sprung for the slightly more expensive tangle free roller or whatever it's called. I'm constantly spending a good 5-10 minutes cutting hair out of the roller before every use (wife and I both have long hair plus the two dogs).

Aside from that its a great little vacuum and very multipurpose.

My recommendation from 16 years ago still stands!

Seriously though, had good luck with my original Dyson and one of the stick Dyson's we got a few years ago.

Of course, we have a house cleaner now, but I like to do some spot vacuuming from time to time!
