Re: how many 'old timer' Ants left on the boards?

Been pimpin' since been pimpin' since been pimpin' lol...

Good to see all the "old" lurkers still out there. Pretty much same as crushme5 here (subbing 'friends in high school' with 'older cousins' who were in high school in northern VA)

fortunately, I got into DMB kinda young and was definitely that music kid that bought Crash when it came out while on a 7th grade field trip being like "everybody this band is the awesome and they're going to be one of the greatest and badass of our generation!" because I was obsessed with UTTAD. I didn't find many people that shared any part of that sentiment at all (most people "hated" Dave Matthews) until late high-school/college but by then the malignification of the band and fan-base had morphed into like an industry-wide meme, certainly by the time Ants had replaced Nancies.

So the various incarnations from dmbml until now is where I could least read other people's actual insights on the band and get news. Hasn't always been a positive place at all times, lol, people are/were passionate about this band and when their fandom left it didn't always leave quietly, but that was the case before Ants.

Always been a lurker, though. Felt too young to really participate in the old days and nowadays I feel like I'm too old, haha

Right there with you. Everyday was legitimately disappointing in such a traumatic way. I feel cursed with a never-ending yearning for what could have been...

Nancies.org had an email account server too. That was fun and clever. Good grief time flies.

    Still here, kinda.

Mostly lurker but been around since Nancies.org, trading shows via BNP (I think that's what it was called, when you sent blank discs and postage paid to someone who had a show they would burn for you and send back.) DMB was a huge hyperfixation for about 2 decades. Not as much anymore. Marriage and kids'll do that. XD

Awesome that fans had the opportunity to ask Mark about DMB. Hopefully he didn't catch the red glare of anyone else involved.

i remember doing that....getting started was so hard to trade cause you had nothing to offer anyone. my mom thought i was gonna have someone mail me anthrax (how 2002 lol). i had all the concerts i had been to between 98 and 05 on CD in one of those cd albums with low res album art, now i look at the DMB hub and think how easy it has gotten to listen to a taped show

The mentions of the DMBML makes me remember those groups on aol or something like alt_dave_matthews or something.

    That was a good group

I rejoined fairly recently, but I've been on here since early 2000s. Nancies and a.m.d-m (usenet newsgroup on AOL) for years before that. I'm old (39).

I was on nancies for awhile before transitioning to Ants in early 2005. Never a huge poster and it’s really fallen off in the last four or five years. Still love the band and always look forward to new music. Old habits die hard. When I first get online in the morning everyday, I checkout CNN, then go to ESPN, then Ants. Always those three first.

Not sure I like being an old-timer at 28 years old but hi

I mainly lurk to check for new releases, always hoping we'd get an announcement for an expanded deluxe DSD remaster of BTCS or something haha

2004 Ants member here. I'm not that interested in DMB anymore at this point in my life. I'll ride the wave of excitement for the new album, listen to the new album when it comes out but that's about it. I haven't seen them live in years and have no desire to.

I'm still here. I've had a few name changes because of password forgetfulness and no longer having old emails. I used to be some variation of WonSuiteWhirled, then JiggleOh. Then browsers became smart enough to retain passwords without being too easily crackable.
