After a few years off, Chula is back!!!!!!

Delighted to see this show return to the schedule. Love spending the day brewery hopping and then getting into the lot to tailgate. This will be one of my can't miss shows for the tour.

First time getting a show in San Diego since moving here in 2018! Supposed to be flying back to CT this weekend for a wedding, though. There's a chance that gets pushed to 2023, so maybe I'll get the chance to go. Would be my first show since 2016.

They're pretty cool about the tailgating there, so arrive early, and you can get in the lot that's closest to the exit, and it's easier getting out after the show.

Bad news is that as usual, it's on a Friday. If you're driving down from L.A. or Orange County, LEAVE EARLY. Chula Vista is about as far South as you can go without hitting Mexico. The traffic heading down to San Diego can get brutal on a Friday afternoon, so if you want time to chill before the show, I'd suggest being through Orange County before 3:00.

It's a pretty large Pit, and sometimes it's easier to get a Pit ticket than it is to get something in the Orchestra sections, which I imagine go mostly to Season Seat Holders.

If you're coming from LA, DONT plan on driving down later than the morning. Traffic is a nightmare. And dont plan on driving back after because its murder to get out of the lot

Getting an uber after is also a shitshow. But not REALLY worse than any other venue. That said, the roads around it are two lane and werent flowing well when we were there last year

The venue itself: Lawn feels pretty far away. I saw Phish here and they dont have screens. My girlfriend just sat down most of it. Im sure for DMB itll be a little better, but don't plan on seeing the band much if youre back there

drinks are easy to get. Bathrooms are clean and flow well

lots are a blast before. The venue itself is nice. Getting in for Phish was a nightmare (long lines)

There arent a ton of hotels super close if youre coming in the for the show. Stay closer to the water and get a DD/Uber is my reco--despite the lots getting jammed

Nice! I assumed we’ll fly into SD and hang a few days in pacific beach or La Jolla eat some tacos, go to a brewery or two and then the snow Friday. Maybe head up to LA Sunday for the Monday/Tuesday show. Thanks for the thoughts!

Local ProTip: never take the main route to get there. Go the back way via the 905 and through the car junk yards. You'll save anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour getting in and leaving.

Battled with Livenation for 45 minutes. Kept getting standard pit tickets in my cart, only to get an error message that wouldn't let me process the order. If I wanted to buy Platinum tickets for 3 times as much, no problem. System is a scam for sure.

Haven't been since 2014, back then it was a huge gravel parking lot with lots of tailgating. Is it still the same?

The lawn is huge at this venue. Get in early to get a good spot or you'll be surrounded by people that aren't really there for the show.

You want to park in the dirt lot above the venue (south lot). I've been going to this venue since 2003 and the tailgate is always great. Easy to get in and get out. Lots open early at 4pm. and parking fees will be included in the ticket price. This year, I'll be there when the lots open and with a decent sized group (8-10 people). We're all craft beer industry folk so we're coming prepared...

I’ll be at this show. I’ve always enjoyed the vibe there. First time returning since 2012 when it was Cricket Wireless.
This will also be my first time seeing them without my mother, who passed 4 years ago, so it will be bittersweet.

Thanks to sandiegoant for the “backway” tip. That will come in handy.

Van full of dudes coming from Phoenix on Friday morning. We are staying in the Gaslamp area down town. When should we leave downtown to get to the venue and which way to hit the 905? Should we got out the 805?
