Second bolded really seems like a stretch. They won't play Boston Calling b/c they aren't playing Jazz Fest? Maybe Jazz Fest timing did not work...or maybe, as I suspect, they aren't playing Jazz Fest b/c they just played it in 2019. I'm shocked so many people expected them to be on the bill again after just 3 years (really only two b/c there was no 2020 Jazz Fest).

Yes younger folks still go to DMB shows (I'm 31 and started going to shows at 21 in 2012 decades after their 90s rise in fame). There are other younger demo catered festivals that have The Killers or Mumford and Sons high in the lineup that DMB wouldn't have the same wider pull of younger fans. And the RATM music is timeless for that college demo as well compared to DMB's content.

There are a lot of festival acts that don't have the cultural impact DMB had in the 90s that regularly headline festivals in the present day. Performing in a festival isn't about having a band that makes you go to 5 shows a year like DMB does. Performing a festival like Boston Calling is about having an indie rock or traditional rock sound that the 20 somethings and 30 somethings in Boston will enjoy because that is the target demographic even when bands like the Foo Fighters show up.

Now if DMB played Boston Calling they wouldn't get booed off stage by any means. My main point is this festival is geared toward a younger demographic than other festivals and is geared around 20 somethings in Boston in 2022 not 1999.

If a show is in Boston and there are mostly 20 and 30 year olds heading out to a Boston Festival DMB is going to hit different than a concert or even a festival like Levitate in Marshfield or a show at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield.

The live concert scene in the city of Boston trends more traditional Rock or Alt Rock than it does the unique fusion that DMB Brings. For a DMB Tour Stop at the TD Garden they nearly sell it out. But a festival in the city Rock and Alt Rock are going to go over well than "You and Me" and "Everyday".

This whole argument about DMB not playing Boston Calling b/c the festival isn't right for them is ten times funnier now that the band is sharing the stage with the likes of "6Lack", "Lil Baby," and "Lil Uzi Vert" at Something In The Water. Money and relationships talk...

Probably August or September at the earliest.

I think I remember Wrigley was announced just before Alpine. It was a poorly kept secret since they had to get the okay and approval and all that was public record

There are a little ways back. It explains why places like Burgettstown, Chicago and Cincy weren’t on the tour. Generally speaking a fall-winter runs about as far west as Chicago/Champaign (more typically Columbus OH).
