What percentage of people are generally attractive?

How much of the general population is generally attractive? Not supermodels level, but just generally attractive. Like a solid 6 to 7 and up.

That's what I mean, everyday people you see out and about. Obviously the % of attractive people in the public eye is much higher because that is partly or entirely why they are there.

Overall, somewhere around 15%-20%.

For people under 35, I'd say 25%-35%.


When people are single and trying, they can raise their stock up to "attractive" by being in shape and having a healthy looking face. Those same people can then get married and 100% stop caring about anything related to how they look. Age and Marital status can drastically skew the numbers if you wanted to put in qualifiers.

This is assuming that an equal percentage of the population falls within the 1-10 scale. Which is likely not accurate.

yeah, this. I'm 27 but I can't ever see myself becoming someone like that. I care too much about my body and fashion in general.

It's really just about having a little self-respect. People who get married and go, "welp, don't have to worry about how I present myself anymore!" are the absolute worst. Says a lot about a person.

I dunno, I can see it happening for certain types of people; it's happened to me a liiiittle bit. I don't go to the gym anywhere near as much as I did when I was single/in the first like 2 years of this relationship, for example.

Though, total speculation since I'm not married but I think a big part of it for married people is less that 'well, I'm married, I can look shitty!' and more just that it gets harder and harder to keep in great shape the older you get. Kids/work etc all take precedent for many people on top of that so unless you're one of those people that can wake up at 6am and do a 5 mile run, those love handles are gonna keep growing

I think you're being a little too generous here...there are soooo many hideously ugly people walking around out there.

There's also a big difference between a 4 and a 7.

If I had to put a breakdown on it it'd be something like:

1-4 = ~45%
5-7 = ~45%
8-9 = ~10%
10 = >1%

5-7 being around 45% isn't very far off from what I originally said, close to 50%. The bell curve I described probably was a bit too generous, but I still maintain that like half of people walking around out there are generally attractive normal looking people.

Are we factoring in the very high number of people who are like 60 years old and up? Total population wise, only late teens to maybe 42 really have a chance here. I think a good majority of people (75% ?) in that age range qualify as a 6 to 7 or higher.
