got it. i'm halfway thru the show so i'll review a bit while i listen...
first - kinda funny but when you open the CD booklet, there's a rather startling closeup pic of Dave and Tim. startling because it's an early pic of Dave and he has that weird Crash Into Me video look to him. i'm looking at him, and looking at Tim, and looking at Dave, and i'm thinking......... oh yeah, they have definitely sucked each other's dicks at some point in their long friendship. might have been drug-induced, i'm not judging. but i'd put money on the fact that at some point, dicks were in mouths. and i'm also sure it was a real bonding experience.
SOUND
very good overall. but not appreciably better than Trax 23, 24, Luther, or Radio City. but that's fine as all of these are top notch. the only real problem release was Las Vegas. and the DMBLive at Boone was a little mono sounding.
one problem though, is the imaging of the crowd. when listening on headphones, the crowd noise and applause is definitely off-center to the right. sounds like you are sitting on a far left seat in the auditorium. so that's a bit annoying. i like it when the crowd sounds center and behind you.
other than that, it's Tim's guitar on the left, Dave's guitar on the right, and Dave's voice dead center. good stuff.
SHOW
okay immediately evident is the annoying-ass crowd. the whole 1999 tour was like that, which as we all know pissed Dave off that year. for whatever reason everyone thinks this is a two-way interaction.
but the performances are magnificent. tempo is just right, and they are playing in a technically challenging way and nailing it every song. i could tell mainly because songs like Granny and Too Much are taken to new heights! they really dig deep to bring out a lot of artistry in every song.
having an official release of Last Stop is nice.
i've had a taper pull of this show since the early 2000's but never listened to it because the audio was crap. so having this gem of a show is pristine audio quality is just AWESOME.
OVERALL - an A+ release is Live Trax 41 here. makes up for the terrible LT40 release.
and before i go, i will plead once again - please DMB management, for the love of god, release more DMB or D&T shows on Blu-Ray. and IN HIGH DEFINITION. charge more $ if you have to, we don't care. just give us the high-def goods. christ.
