If he's really into Jesus then he has changed his views and what he has written for 30+ years a hell of a lot

Yeah I mean, he has a lot of lyrics referring to God and Jesus. Christmas song is just a song about Jesus. I think Dave just appreciates the story/myth and its impact on humanity, even though he doesn't practice the religion. I'm as atheist as it gets, and generally get turned off by over the top religious lyrics, but Christmas Song is one of my favorites. Coincidentally, Time Bomb might be my very least favorite DMB song.

It'd be kind of funny if non-DMB fan religious people were like hey honey after we get groceries let's head back cuz I wanna believe in Jeeeeeeesus

I hate that song so much . I absolutely despise its place in Two Step.

1hr later - I’ll just listen to it once then wait till May

I hope there is at least one song left I haven’t listened to when it’s realessed in May!
So hopefully you at least enjoyed the song?

This. I am pretty sure he has stated as much during D&T davespeaks from the late 90s.

Yep, I do like it and think I’ll like it more with some full band treatment I reckon this could end up as a nice 6-7min song with full band on tour too … hopefully

Dave has finally come around on Jesus. Gospel album confirmed. Maybe I'll actually buy this 3 minute songs album now.

We need to get used to the fact that every song Dave writes is going to mention kids (being a kid, kids games, swimming as a kid, or literally just naming little kids), queens, and Jesus. It's been like this for years now and its not all bad.

The more times I listen, the more I’m convinced that he’s referring to Jesus as one of the many made up ‘monsters’ inside peoples heads. Gotta love Dave!

Yeah I like that angle of the Jesus line and think it fits. People harm and save themselves with their own thoughts.

And for God sake, can Dave stop referring to all these new songs as “another little song.” I don’t want more “little songs.” *♂️

And why can’t he mention this is a song on the upcoming album?
Yeah I’ve mentioned the same thing before. He needs to stop with the tiny little songs even if they’re good. The more and more tiny little songs he writes the more plausible it becomes that sets are filled with tiny little songs that never evolve, never change, never feature the band enough, etc

Yeah, Bismarck is great. So yeah, not all bad although they've disappeared that one unsure if should count.

In the davespeak before the song debut, he literally talks about how he thinks the idea of heaven and hell is made up. Clearly that Jesus Saves bit it just some tongue in cheek

Dave believes in a lot of foolish fairy tales (along with pretty much any leftist narrative, but I repeat myself) but Christ is a bridge too far for him lol

Knowing Dave's history, this isn't meant to be a "yay Jesus!" song. I'm pretty sure both Jesus and The Devil are the monsters referenced in the title.

Loving this song. It sounds like classic Dave to me in a lot of ways and it fits perfectly in the sweet spot of his voice at this stage of the game. Wish he did that more often. Can’t wait for the album version!

It is interesting how he mentions Jesus & the devil so much though. I mean it's clearly at least fascinating to him.

I think that’s the best one so far. It’s a new N1 vid.

I listened to the N2 version. Although not a cleaner recording felt like Dave and Tim were tighter. Also like Tims intro part, not sure if he did that N1.

Seems childish to believe a 2000 year old story or some god is watching over you in particular or cares what person you sleep with but yea those leftist policies are the problem.

Yeah, monsters is a good song. That N2 performance is better too. Very excited to hear the band on that one. Really happy with how strong the verse and chorus melody are.

Absolutely jarring quality difference on display being played back to back with Something to Tell my Baby.

Based on the N2 performance, it sounds like this is the lyric mo one could understand from N1:
    Quote:
    Killer's eyes and painted faces
The devil wants your soul, but Jesus saves
Traffic jam is an angry maze
The devil wants your soul but Jesus saves
