They're offering some interesting options. It would definitely incentivize people to pre-order, especially fan club members. And potentially make them want to buy a 40 track version as well.

Especially at what they're charging for a single vinyl. Most folks are asking about $30 for a two LPs and providing a digital copy.

I think many people buying vinyl do so because they think it's better than digital, not realizing in 99% of cases all formats have been made from the exact same digital master.

I love physical media, and the catalogue releases of DMB vinyl have been almost uniformly excellent. The new studio albums on vinyl over the past 15 years have all been almost uniformly rubbish. I'll likely go to the mall on release date and pick it up from Sunrise Records on good old CD. Dave's affinity for heavy-handed mastering sounds better on digital than it does on vinyl anyway.

I would have pre-ordered the CD and sucked up the Canadian shipping if there had been any bonus materials for sure.

Then once it appears on sites like HD Tracks I'll probably blow another US$20 on a 24-bit download just to discover it's exactly the same as the CD and probably all mastering moves were done at 24/44.1 like CT and AFTW.

(Still excited for said CD though, don't get me wrong)
