Upon rewatch:

Teddy definitely a robot. Even repeats the chivalry line.
Ed Harris most likely a guest. He says he's been coming for 30 years. He also says he didn't pay that much for it to be easy.

I Really enjoyed Ep 2. Gives a much better picture of whats actually going on by seeing it through the eyes of a guest.

Yeah you kinda get the feeling somehow he is gonna clash with the "investors" they mention who have 'an entire different goal with the park'.

do we think there's any chance that place where Anthony Hopkins went out to in the desert, whatever that wood structure was that had the cross on top of it, that that's related to the maze entrance that the MIB is looking for? just wondering, with a snake being mentioned in the young girl's directions she gave him, and us seeing a snake nearby that place. I admit it could be flimsy, but...

and to bradshaw's spoiler -- that's a pretty fucking mindblowing idea I'd have to watch again to see if any details cheat against that being possible

I dont think so, the maze seems like its been in place. What hopkins character was talking about was including something new to the park, which it seemed to elude to was religion.

What do we think the man in black is trying to do exactly by going "deeper into the game" and find this maze? Like really, what's the end game for a real human guest in that scenario?

And when the bad guy Lawrence's daughter tells him about the maze, it seemed just out of character for the robots...like she broke character and spit out a monotone answer. Why's this girl hiding this secret about the maze?

It was driving me nuts trying to figure out where I knew the new character William from (whose perspective ep 2 is portrayed through)...he's the hacker on House of Cards.

Also that host in his dressing room who offered to bang. hot damn.

Jimmi Simpson, and he's been in a TON of different stuff for like the last decade+ now. both film and TV. He's been a favorite character actor of mine for awhile now.

and yea I liked how they made it seem like that other friend of his, that he also got a similar offer from his "orientation girl", and he very likely took her up on it

Not the most eventful episode last night.

Things seem to be moving faster than I anticipated. Definitely seems like multiple timelines are occurring. I didnt like how they gave away what the maze is in the preview for next week.

Anthony Hopkins revealed there was a previous founding partner he collaborated with who became obsessed with creating consciousness within the hosts, ultimately dying later...

Could the man in black be this co-creator of WestWorld?

Lots of interesting stuff in this episode besides that, however. Hosts are starting to be tinkered with...

    this show is fucking awesome.

one observation/question I have: it's clear that the robots are able to use some knowledge from previous experiences in Westworld. For example, the father of Dolores was quoting lines from a previous "character" he played. And we also obviously saw Maeve remember time with her daughter, and Dolores with her father's message to her. So even though the hosts are "reset" or whatever each night, clearly they are able to remember things. So what exactly happens to them at night in terms of being reset? And what do the engineers think is happening when they reset them? And why are they able to remember these things? Clearly Bernard (one of the chief engineers) is starting to catch on that they can remember things based on his private conversation with Dolores.

Fucking love the concept of this show.

For every question there is, a bunch more stem from it instead of answering. So awesome so far. I do wonder how they'd make this multiple seasons though.

Yeah I was wondering that myself. Seems like something thats going to be fully fleshed out by the time the end of the season comes around.

The way they are talking about it, its more of a "disease" that is spreading or was installed with the update by Hopkins character.

Their memories are pretty clearly wiped and days go by quickly but there are little pieces that Dolores at least seems to be remembering, as evidenced by the gun she has/doesnt have in the episode.

Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but didn't they show the dead partner Arnold in a flashback scene?

I dont know if they showed him specifically. They showed a young hopkins and a few other people but nothing specified who was who and I dont think they showed all the faces in the flashback.

I would lean away from the man in the black being the co-creator though.

I was too. There was too much Dolores. Seeing her day to day relationship with Teddy is kind of blah when you know it really has no meaning.

This is my complaint with last night's episode as well. In the context of the show, why would we care about the internal storyline of Teddy and Dolores, knowing its all fake and programmed for the sake of the guests?

Westworld is all for the guests, so we should be running through it from their perspective/experience.

Yeah Im hoping that was just a setup episode. I liked her character running into William (Mcpoyle) at the end.

The stuff with that cult thing is strange to me as well. Teddy shot at all of them and they didnt flinch, so theyre real people? But I thought that storyline he was on was a bounty hunt with that girl who was a guest.
