Jeff Coffin played with my band!

Hey guys! Just wanted to share a cool story. I’ve been a musician for about 20 years now, with the catalyst to my music career being a DMB show at Farm Aid 1999. Changed my life forever! I went to a Flecktones concert not too long after (I was in middle school at the time) and met Jeff Coffin. I couldn’t decide at the time if I wanted to focus on guitar or saxophone. Jeff told me to show up at band class with my guitar and see what happens, and that was it.

Fast forward almost 20 years later and I’ve managed to do pretty well in Nashville as a musician. I started a funk band with my friends a few years back, and somehow we got Jeff to come record a song and shoot a music video with us! Full circle moment for me. Anyway, I am a life long DMB fan and I just wanted to share this story and music with fellow fans. I really hope you enjoy!

This is what I've always dug about Jeff. Modest upbringing on the scene, got a big break joining DMB, but his roots are grounded in stuff like this. Truly a musician of the people.

Amazing. I was a huge Coffin fan before he joined the band. Loved that he got the gig, but I do wish they'd feature him far more than they do.

But he's always been down to earth from everything I've ever heard or read about him. He's a musician and a music educator, never letting his success at the former prevent his work in the latter. A real role model.

Was about to ask if you were playing the Silver Sky or the beat-up Strat, but I reread your posts.

Met him once at an art exhibit he had going on in East Nashville (circa 2011 I think).

He could not have been any nicer or more down to earth - just a great dude.

Great tune, it actually reminded me of something that could have been on the Batson sessions. BTW, did Jeff say it was nice to play next to a trumpet player that didn't screech? Did you ask him any DMB questions?

Absolutely! He’s such a cool dude and an amazing player. He had never played with us before or even heard the music. He showed up and just killed it the first take!

DMB is kind of ingrained in to my musical vocabulary and my drummer is a huge fan also, so I like to think/hope that all the stuff we create could have Dave singing on it one day! Man I wanted to ask so many questions but we were on a bit of a time crunch and just needed to get the music done. Hopefully next time!
