Hi Everyone! Got tickets from WH. I've never been to this venue so I'm happy to see that quite a few of you love it. I'll be coming into town Friday night and staying through Sunday morning/afternoon. Any suggestions for stuff to do in VA Beach, where to stay, or tips/tricks about the venue? We're doing the same thing.

It's a summer resort town so places aren't cheap unless you stay pretty far away. Hopefully some locals speak up but I'd start looking ASAP as it will only get worse as it gets closer.

The guy I'm going with has a friend with a condo down there, so first we are checking with said friend; otherwise, we will probably go AirBnB.

The beach is nice, but very crowded during the summer. The local aquarium is quite good. The dolphin cruises are fun. Abbey Road is a cool Beatles themed restaurant. Really good bbq at: http://www.beachbully.com/ Great brunch at the Hilton. Some cool lighthouses. Coast Guard museum. The beach boardwalk that you can walk, skate, scooter, or bike (dedicated bike path). There's a horseback riding set up, but I'm not sure if they do it during high season (or even if they can).

We live in northern VA, but only go in the off season when the prices are reasonable. We're going for the DMB show though this year. We've already seen three shows, are going to SPAC, and VA Beach is the only other reasonable venue for us to get to...wish we could do more.

I heard Daves mom has a beach house on the ocean in Sandbridge. I met a girl there few years ago who owned a beach house and she had all kids of Dave stuff and was apparently friends with the band and lived in Charlottesville.

I know there's no obligation on the band's part, but after the truncation of Bristow, I hope they make their only other "home state" appearance something special. There will be no holding of breath of course, but there will be holding out of hope.

Got SPAC this weekend and then next weekend VA Beach. Looking forward to everything.

I did that for Blossom. Spur of the moment trip to my Mom's because my kids wanted to visit...I'm like...awesome. Lemme go see Dave and you guys can have a sleepover. yolo

What's traffic like leaving the venue? I am driving down from Richmond for the show, and I'm debating on whether or not to stay overnight in Norfolk or just drive back home. First time at the venue.

As I mentioned above, Abbey Road is a groovy little Beatles themed restaurant. Good food at decent prices. Beach Bully BBQ is quite good, good portions, and relatively inexpensive. Took us years to find, but we go there every time we visit the beach now. There's some Mexican places that are supposed to be good too, just haven't hit them in all the years we've been visiting from Alexandria...I'm not sure why.

Most of the pizza is mediocre. We found one decent place, but I can remember what it's called. There's certainly no shortage of eateries, it's just a matter of what you like.

And a VItR please. We got that at at Mansfield, but not at Bristow...in Virginia...in hellacious rain. Then we got JTR at SPAC N2 on a beautiful day. I'm really hoping to hear JTR again. Probably my favorite DMB tune and now that I've finally heard it I just want MORE!!!
