Re: AFTW cover

Don't understand going with the same color palette as the BW cover. No problem with Dave using his art or handwriting, but with the color choice it just seems like a part of the BW booklet rather than its own independent cover.

I like it, but not as much as the BW cover, which it undeniably resembles. Think this would make a cool poster too.

Stefan just made it his profile pic. I guess this is it. But whomever said it's the same font, yeah, because it's Dave's handwriting

Well, I tweeted the image to Stefan about an hour ago . . . and though I didn't get a direct response, it's officially the Album Cover: https://twitter.com/slessard

I don't know if we're getting all of the information here though, right? At least, I hope we're not. Perhaps this ties into the back of the album? I don't know, I am just hoping for more. It's not that I don't like it per se, I just don't fucking get it, lol.

Hmm... I'm at a loss for words to be honest. Is it bad? No.

But, why? Big Whiskey Pt. 2 ?

    Re: AFTW cover

    My initial gut reaction:

Way way WAY too much like Big Whiskey. My first reaction was that of bewilderment and it screamed BWGGK to me. It was an absolute turnoff at first glance and visceral reaction. It looks bizarre and pretentious.

I wouldn't hang this artwork in my living room if you paid me, and so help me God I have I framed "Crash" and BTCS lithographs hanging in my condo.

The music is going to have to do the talking for me, but this is a big red flag. I pray I'm wrong.

Awesome. Nothing will ever top Big Whiskey´s artwork, though. It would be cool if this one (atleast the super-deluxe) had as much album art as the last one.

I don't understand the hate/confusion/etc. I think it is extremely awesome and goes along with the message/theme of the album.

The only thing I could understand is people upset about the colors being similar to Big Whiskey but the design, layout, etc. everything else for the cover is perfect to me.

It's a drawing based on the lyric in The Riff that the album title comes from.

And if you hate the album cover, go look at the White Album's cover and title ("The Beatles").

It's really nothing to give a shit over. Just cool to finally have the image.

The White Album cover is iconic, though.

You should have referred people to Spinal Tap's "Smell the Glove" cover.

Does anyone remember Everyday, Busted Stuff, or Stand Up? All really bad covers. Big Whiskey was more intricate than this, and yes, this is similar in that dave drew it.

I think it's cool. I prefer the dreamy style that UTTAD has on the cover, but I understand that the music and cover were meant to reflect each other in that case. In this case, I'm pretty sure it's a specific line he's referencing.

The White Album's cover is iconic because the music in it was so good, it became iconic. Doesn't hurt that the Beatles were the band behind the cover.

Point being, this could be the most remembered cover DMB ever had if there is the music to back it up.

Rubber Soul is one of their best, if not their best albums; and it's not iconic hardly at all.

For the record, I like this cover a lot.

It's ok I guess. It is a little weird that they used the same color scheme but I'm sure Dave did that on purpose. Like someone else said maybe its continuing the story of BW
