Re: The Travellers Thread
A few thoughts:
*India - I think I'd want more than a month unless you just did the north or south. I think didriveout2spac has been there a lot and probably has some advice for India.
* Bolivia is really cool. Salar de Unyi, largest salt flat in the world, pretty cool. Lake Titicaca with the Incas and tons of history. Biking down the worlds most dangerous road. You can visit the famous shithole prison in La Paz called San Pedro. The Amazon, the Andes, lots of high mountains. La Paz might be my least favourite capital but the rest of the country makes up for it. Bolvia is crazy, lots of drugs, more than Colombia. Plus everything is cheap when you get there.
*Colombia - I'm a big, big fan. Gorgeous landscape, Caribbean, rainforest, coffee region, outdoor adventure sports. Some of my favourite people in South America. I prefer Bogota to Medellin, but there are so many places to visit. Fun time.
Costa Rica - I know a couple people on here have travelled here a lot and have lots of good advice about Costa Rica. I loved it and thought it was stunning but it was expensive. I'd probably go somewhere else. But it is beautiful.
* Uruguay/Argentina/Chile/Brazil - I'd do Argentina and Chile together, see Patagonia and cross the Andes and see the tallest mountain outside of the Himalayas, Cerro Aconcaugua. Chile has such divervse landscapes, I love the mountains. And Mendoza, Argentina is really cool, great wine. close to the Andes and the drive between Mendoza and Santiago, Chile through the mountains is really nice. Brazil doesn't intrigue me as much as the other countries but I guess I'd like to go someday. Uruguay I might tie in with Chile/Argentina.
* Jordan/Isreal - less intrigued by these countries as the rest. I am intruiged by Tel Aviv and visiting Petra though.
* Tanzania/Madagascar - not much to add, but this is a cool idea. I think I'd like to climb Kilimanjaro.
If it was up to me I'd probably do Chile/Argentina doing most of it in Patagonia.
