Got denied from WH. On the public sale I got section 800 in row AA. Says there’s an obstructed view? Is this just because of the sound board?

I picked up a pair in Sec 800 row AA as well. I have sat there many times. It's not really obstructed. They just put that on there because of the soundboard. I was trying to get 4 tickets so let me know if you ever decide to sell them!

Thanks for the reply! I actually do have 4 seats! I will be looking for an upgrade if the people we’re going with are ok with it haha. But more than likely we are going to keep them. But I’ll keep you in the loop if anything happens!

Coming back to Riverbend for the first time in years!

We’re looking at Queen City Riverboats - Does anyone have experiences with the riverboat shuttles to and from the shows? TIA.

Highly recommend. My friends and I use it every DMB concert and already bought our boat tickets for the May show. Takes a little longer to get home, but don't have to deal with traffic, Uber's, etc. Plus, a few more drinks on the boat after the show isn't bad haha

I’m staying at the ac hotel Marriott downtown. Is the place you meet the boat to board and and disembark it walking distance from that Marriott?

according to Google it looks like its about an hour walk. It looks like about a 10 minute drive with onsite parking though

Hey everyone! This will be my first trip to Riverbend. Don't wanna wait until DC for a show, and always like checking out new venues.

    Couple questions:
    1) When it comes to the "no tailgating" rule, are we talking super strict? Would having a drink with the trunk popped open be a no-go? Wouldn't plan on a whole set up.
    2) Eyeing seats in 800, row EE, or 900 row AA (a bit more to the outside). Any ideas on which location is better? Don't need super close, but I figure sound is great behind the mix in 800.

    Just over a month!

Hey everyone - I’m thinking of making the trip to Riverbend this year because the show is on my birthday. Wanted to see if anyone had any insight on how the uber/Lyft situation is for getting to and from the show if I’d be staying in downtown Cincinnati? Any help is appreciated - thanks!

    Based on my experience:

-I wouldn't call it super strict, but they do send people around the lots and tell you to knock it off. If you don't have gear, you could probably get away with it, but I do find the "no tailgate" rule to be pretty lame. In the past we have taken my large vehicle, sat inside and drank a beer, stood outside and drank a beer, and then walked to the gate with one. That seems to have worked out for us. But, depending on how nice the security folks are being, YMMV.

-800 > 900. Neither is going to be that close. But, not a bad view. I was in 900 for the show in 2019, 800 for 2021. Both are fine.

Riverbend is a fine place to see a show. It's nothing special, but it's not bad. I'll be there in advance of my DC trip, so hope to see ya there!

I haven't used Uber/Lyft at Riverbend - however, anecdotally I have heard from others that getting there is no problem, getting back after the show is a pain. If you like to gamble, or even just a place to get a drink and hang out - Belterra Park is right next to Riverbend, you could go over and play the slots until the rush dies down, and then try to ride. It may be much better now - I've just heard historically it is a pain to get an Uber after the shows.

Great! I should have mentioned that you will need to drive/park (parking is free) or Uber to/from the boat pickup/drop off in Dayton, KY. If you are familiar with the area, it's not too far from downtown Cincy, just down the street from the Party Source in Newport.

I used to Uber to/from every concert before I discovered the river boat. I haven't been to a concert since pre-Covid, so maybe it's changed, but getting an Uber home was a nightmare.

There is a rideshare parking lot across the street from Coney Island. Not the easiest thing to do when you're competing with that many people to get a ride home.

On the other hand, getting a ride to the venue is painless (not counting traffic and price surges, of course).

Thanks for the info! Ended up snagging two singles in 800 four seats from each other. Figure that's easy enough to work out for me and my friend.

Bummer they're so strict, so the one drink in / one drink outside the car sounds like the play. As a Deer Creek and Alpine lifer, I've only experienced the no-tailgate thing in Tinley.

General question and not meant to be a debate. I typically go to Blossom for Dave, being one of the best Amphitheaters in the country, it’s legit awesome if you never been. But this year it’s a no show and only Cincy or Pittsburgh. Are these generally the same or is one better or worse to see a show. Like sound quality, sight lines, crowd, set lists. I’m leaning Riverbend because the shows generally look pretty good and not Pittsburgh lol. Both have gotten Trax releases. I’d do the lawn typically but Pavilion isn’t out of the question if there is a good reason to go that route.

    Thoughts?

Hey everyone... I'm looking for 2 Reserved (PIT or Lower 100/200/300) for this show. Trying to go for my wife and my anniversary.

Longshot I know, but let me know if you know anyone who may be selling their tix.

    Thanks!

I'd say the lawn at Pittsburgh is better but I like the location of Riverbend the best. Right on the water. We're taking the Riverboat from our hotel to the venue as transportation there and back. We're also doing pavilion so the lawn being a little smaller/worse in Cinci isn't really an issue for us.

I've not been to Star Lake, so I'm not able to do the comp, but I would describe Riverbend as a C+ venue. I've seen dozens of shows there. It's fine. It isn't anything remarkable. Sound quality is fine. There are good sight lines from the lawn, but they aren't great (I always thought the pavilion roof hung a little low and there are some support columns that can obscure your view in some places). Southwest Ohio does have a pretty good Dave following, and as you've noted, no Cleveland (or Columbus, for that matter) shows, and they didn't play there last year, so it'll be a decent draw - crowd should be pretty good. The lawn is astroturf (or artificial at least, not sure if it's actually "astroturf"), not grass, which can make it hotter on a hot day, but is pretty clutch in inclement weather (and doesn't kick up dust/dirt). I think the view in the pavilion is better, but those tickets are also a fair amount more expensive (and can be hard to track down). There have been some great Cincy setlists, and some bad ones... Dave said aloud from the stage two years ago that it was a venue the band enjoyed, but I'm pretty confident he said that at most venues.

Bottom line: I've never been to a show at Riverbend and been like "my god, this place sucks." But it's also not a top tier venue in my eyes. I have a lot of personal great memories of Riverbend, but it's mostly because I grew up in northern Kentucky and a lot of my first concert experiences were there. I'd wager you'd neither be disappointed nor find it to be a super memorable venue.

what hotel, what boat? did you ask them to pick you up at your hotel.

I booked passage with the queen city riverboats and am staying at the downtown ac hotel at banks (marriott)

The Fairfield Mariott on the river in Kentucky. It's a 15 minute walk to the queen city riverboat. So we'll walk there to the dock then hop on.

That’s our group’s itinerary too! Definitely planning on Hofbrauhaus and we’re also curious about the distillery across the street from the hotel.
