This was my first show in probably 6 or 7 years. Thoroughly enjoyed it. They sounded crisp and fresh, with really distinct jams getting passed back and forth. So glad I came out for this one.

Look this won’t be a great set on paper. Fun show though. Pig opener is one of my favorite moments ever at any show. So full of joy dying that. I never thought I would get Pig in Mississippi and it opened. LIOG was a sweet surprise too. Once again not going, to be my greatest show ever, but some great memorable moments.

I hope a taper got a recording or at least full YouTube video will surface, but Buddy posted a video clip of him soloing on LIOG. Did he take the entire solo or one along with Tim? However it went down, the line he throws down on that clip sounds filthy.

Was it just me or did Dave's vocals sound like crap? Not his actual voice but the way it was coming from the speakers? Sounded super compressed and filtered. We moved around 3x to different spots in the venue (perks of it being undersold) and it sounded bad everywhere.

I was in the pit and it sounded great. I was right in front of Dave like 4 rows back though. I’m always impressed with DMBs live sound. The guitar was loud, and crisp I could barely even hear tim unless it was a solo. They sound fucking fantastic while actually at the show these days , I can’t even imagine what they must of sounded like in 1998 or something

There were times I thought it sounded really compressed or static-y, but definitely not the majority of the time. I was standing right beside the mix board though.

    Re: ***Official Southaven 2023 Thread***

Posted a longer version of my thoughts in the setlist thread. I'll try to keep it TL;DR here.

Mostly fun show. Pig opener was a great surprise. Crush, Warehouse, LIOG were awesome.
COCO and Sweet were first for me. Enjoyed them
For the most part, loved the new tunes. Glad to see WATM, Monsters, and AYWWT. That one is growing on me in large part due to its live rendition.

Sick of Grey Street, but it got a great pop from the crowd. Esp sick of Space B/t and YaM. Yeah they get great crowd reaction as well but I am just less lenient with them.
Jimi Thing is not an ideal closer to me, but it's still a great song.
Was glad to get SFTW. Didn't care for the rest of the encore.

I was in Sec 15, near the aisle, to the left of the mixing booth. I thought I saw several mic stands as well right there. So if a tape comes out, whoever taped it, thank you very much!

That crowd was DEAD unless they played one of the mega-hits.

Makes you wonder if Dave would've changed the set if the crowd was more lively..

I was on Buddy side, and I had a hard time hearing him. I also agree Dave's vocals weren't quite there either. Stefan though was about as loud as I've heard him, so that was cool. Had fun, but after Pig opener I was hoping for another gem or two.

Why's it so hard to catch a Typical Situation or BOWA?!

Agreed. I saw the crowd really only perk up for Crush, Warehouse, Grey St, The Space Between, Jimi Thing, and Brick House. The new songs were not a good thing for this crowd, so having 8 of them was rough. Personally, it didn't bother me. I had a feeling this was a tough crowd when there wasn't a pop for a Pig opener. At Deer Creek last year, it sounded like Stone Cold had just hit the entrance ramp.

Also, it's a shame that it sold so poorly because, honestly, this was a super clean venue, and the parking situation/surrounding area was good for eating and pre-gaming. My only complaint was the merch/beer lines. Some of that was a matter of technology failure, which isn't necessarily anyone's fault.

We could never find our seats. And since we’d spent too much time in Memphis seeing sights, we were late getting in. So we just never even tried to use the best Warehouse seats I’ve ever been given and sat in the undersold parts. Loved it. I’d rather see small venues like this pop up more frequently on the tour schedule.

The Cure is dropping new tracks from their not yet released album in Hollywood this week, and no one's heard them before, but the crowd is as into the new than the 80s stuff. Wish DMB ticket purchasers had the same enthusiasm.

I was dead center pit and it seemed like pig had a bit of a pop from the crowd. Everyone was singing it. Dave had to see my tall ass jump up and down and down like a kid on Christmas morning lol

The Pit looked like a good time from my point of view in the stands. I was mid section 14 in some undersold seats. I'm regretting not doing the pit in Southaven and getting seats for Nashville rather than vice versa.
