Very fun show. Love the jazzy jam in Crush and the DDTW intro. Getting So Right was a nice surprise. Post-11 Ants was cool. Can’t complain about that set given it’s a festival show.

These days it's all about pleasing the "Casual fan". They really do not cater to hardcore fans anymore but sometimes some cool shit happens at SPAC, Gorge, Alpine, etc., but mainly radio hits for casual fans. i agree. Setlists are crap these days.

Yeah... I'll hold out hope for the first week of the actual tour to see what's up, but I actively rolled my eyes seeing this set play out on Twitter last night. I don't know how they aren't bored.

I thought it was a great show. I was dead center about 75 feet from the stage and thought the band sounded great. That was probably the best When the World Ends I've heard, and the full band Space Between was great. They had a lot of energy and was a really fun show to see.
To me, it goes the way of squirm; the guitar gives the song away before even hearing it. If it wasn't a sunburst electric and me knowing it's coming, yeah I may like it more. To me, it's a 3.5 min song to move along to the next. I don't care what it's about, it's more annoying because I know what's coming. When the band surprises us and opens with shotgun with the red guitar, mind blown! But realistically we can expect to hear squirm 70% of the time what that red guitar comes out.

This is a very good thought! If we as fans are bored and exhausted of hearing the same songs, how is the band that is playing the same songs predominately for the tour feeling? Yeah, they like the way the crowd reacts, but playing bayou, wia, you and me, sledgef**ker, and fool in the rain... I bet Stefan would love to play busted stuff and dreaming tree to name a few....

    Did some research on this.

Squirm has opened 36 times and Shotgun has opened once. Not accounting for other songs as I forget all of them played on that guitar, that gives us a 2.78% chance of seeing Shotgun when the red guitar is put on stage for an opener.

EDIT: Interestingly enough, the first time Squirm opened, 07/24/09, Shotgun was teased right before it.

I think they should go back to the older version of Shotgun and play it more, prefer it later in a set though

Yep, without a doubt. I actually enjoy hearing cornbread on occasion. Do I prefer hearing it, no. But it's in standard tuning on his normal playing guitar which implies that until we hear the drums or something pertaining to the song itself, we don't know it's coming. Just like when the baritone comes out: we know we'll hear WYA, So Right, Bayou, SD, Break Free (now) possible KTK, I Did it etc. You joined 2 years ago, so assuming you aren't that knowledgeable, I'll give you a pass!

One of the great things about the Chet days is you never knew which song was coming next. Now there is a specific guitar for Can’t Stop, let that sink in. They lug that guitar around the country for Can’t Stop performances.

Is poster from Methane? Do they still hold back a handful to sell online? Great memory show, and okay set but solid for festival for sure.

and what makes the can't stop guitar worse is.. you could be blind and know can't stop is coming next. Dave, "this guitar is made of rock..."

and not a guitar, but remember for the first 10 years of Seven... "this song kinda goes like this"

Solid set and a lot of fun. OSW is a classic and always a welcome opener. WTWE, Triplets into Madman's Eyes, Bayou rips and gets the crowd going. Crush through DDTW was a fun run and ending with ants.

Guys sound great. I wish Kill the Preacher would turn into a fun song or jam.

    TPA 2021 >>> 2023 >> 2022

I didn’t decide on going to this concert until 16:00 the day of. Having been to festivals in ‘98 and ‘01 I wasn’t expecting as much as what we got. It’s nice to see they learnt their lesson from Rock in Rio 2001 when they left the stage for the encore and saw their stage be removed (it was circular floor that rotated with the different artists gear) before they were done. Kudos for coming forth and voicing the plan of playing all the way through despite the curfew. If anything was cut, it was a Dave Solo E1 spot. Unlike WPB 21 (both nights), it didn’t feel like they left anything behind on this one. It was a good energy gig on a pleasant last night of winter in Tampa Bay. Scarf and hoodies and all. Well played fellas! Who knows maybe TPA will be the opener of a Winter Tour 2023. ;-)

I honestly enjoyed the show. I went expecting the vanilla set and that's what I got and was okay with that. Mainly pulled the trigger because I had never seen any of the other bands playing before and DMB was the cherry on top. Overall the setup was nice and very well laid out and organized.

100:1 WATM gets played 5x all yr (my fav by far of the new ones), break free isn’t heard again until 2026 or later, break for it is never played again, the dreaming tree over under for 2023 is 0.5 ($10k on under), and similar to 2018, spac, alpine, gorge, etc., attendees are left unfulfilled but will take the high road and not complain
