Listening to my copy of the Joshua Tree in celebration of the new re release. Forgot how great it was, especially my favorite on the album, 'Exit'.

Does anyone who has it already know if they cut the last part of One Tree Hill ("Run to the ocean/Run to the sea, etc.") off of Exit and put it back onto One Tree Hill?

Yes. It's not at the beginning of Exit. That was a manufacturing error.

Oddly, that only affected certain copies of JT.

I never owned a copy that had the end of OTH at the beginning of Exit.

In it he says over the next few years, U2 will remaster ALL of their back catalogue and rerelease it. Each release will have a regular release and then a deluxe version with extras.

Maybe they'll finally do Pop they way they wanted to in the first place? Although I love it dearly the way it is.

I'm listening to it and Paul actually just mentioned something about how he disagrees with rerecording it. There's an "integrity" to the original that he likes. But he does mention how people really want it to be rerecorded and he doesn't say no to it.

I think it would be neat to rerecord it, but I would probably view it as a novelty.

Yeah same here. I'm sure it would be better than what we have, but I enjoy Pop as it is right now. The rerecordings on the 1990-2000 Best of are good enough for me.

I just watched U23D the other day and it was phenomenal!! I recommend it to anyone whether you are a U2 fan or not..it will blow your mind.

Now they just need to film a DMB concert in 3D and we'd be set!

They might do some promo touring, like they did in late 2004 before HTDAAB was released? But I think that will be the best we get this year.

Just got back from U23D, LOVED IT!

Nice mix of old and new stuff, pleasantly surprised that Miss Sarajevo was included. The Argentian fans were also fantastic and added an infectious, vibrant energy to the show.

I've been listening to these guys since the early eighties and I kind of forgot how much I love them. And it's been far too long since I've seen them live. Come back to the U.S. soon, U2!

This isn't just for U2 fans, but I didn't know where else to post it. Found this on U2.com over the weekend. This is such a great song sung by an amazing group of people, you won't believe who's singing on the same stage together until you see it. And apparently this is the #1 song over in Ireland right now. "The Ballad of Ronnie Drew".

ok, so i'm a casual U2 fan, don't know that much about the band...someone recommend the best album for me to download (other than Joshua Tree, as I have that already). old stuff? new stuff? what's better?

Depends on your taste, really. Personally, probably my second favorite after Joshua Tree is Achtung Baby!, a phenomenal album. Also, check out U2 - Elevation Tour 2001, Live from Boston on dvd sometime; seeing a great live performance of them will definitely give you more appreciation for the band.

I recommend the "trilogy" of Boy, October and War. Then move onto the Unforgettable Fire. And since you already have JT, move over to Achtung Baby!. That will give you a starting point to enjoy.
