Re: The Gorge Q&A and FAQs

There have been comments around today that indicated renters of the delivered trailers have confirmed that they ONLY NEED ONE camping pass. This makes sense since it is a towed trailer. If you were coming with your own trailer you would only need one pass as well.

Now, if you are renting a motorized RV that will be delivered that may be another situation. Since both vehicles would arrive seperatly you may need TWO. Check with your campground (Wildhorses or Gorge).

Thanks for the info. I have an email into the rental co. to see what they typically do... this makes sense to me so hoping it is the case.

This will be my first time going to the Gorge. We were declined for premier camping with the warehouse. Will have to try our luck with the public onsale friday. How quick do the premier passes go? And if I can't get premier does standard camping ever sell out? Trying to get a back up plan ready in case we don't get premier.

Premier isn't that tough to pull on the public sale day. Regular does not sell out. They can fit as many as they need to up in District 9.

Premier Camping is on LiveNation right now, no Citi card required.

    Greetings all,

Long time DMB fan but first time at the Gorge traveling from the East Coast. I have tickets to Saturday night's show, and was going to do the Premier Camping option, which states Sep 3-7. Since I only have tickets to one show, am I still able to spend say Friday and Saturday at the camp site with the premier purchase?

    Thank you,
    Brian

Yes. When you check in to get your Premier wristbands and parking permit, they don't ask to see your show tickets or anything. As long as you have your wristband, you will be able to stay for the whole weekend.

Anyone have experience with this type of cooler when flying across the country?

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000F6UJ5K?vs=1

Thinking the wheels might come in handy when walking through the airport...

I have something similar. Coolers with wheels have pros and cons; obviously much easier to wheel around, but the wheels can be damaged by the baggage attendants, etc.

I have never had my wheeled cooler damaged, but I know those that have so sixes really.

if you are checking it there's a strong possibility the wheels won't make it through the baggage handlers

We have used a wheeled cooler the last three times and believe it or not it still works. Not the one in your link but a longer one and available at Home Depot. Coleman 45QT $30. Fill to 52 lbs., tape shut then use for food when you are there.

Friend used what I believe is that exact model last year. Flew from VA to WA and back with wheels intact. Not always the case though.

Also, tape your coolers shut, luggage straps will NOT survive the baggage handlers.

ETA: I think with most airlines you can pay a fee to have your luggage shrink-wrapped (after they inspect it). That might be worth it if you're worried a cooler won't survive....

3 out of the 4 times I've been to Gorge I've flown with a cooler with wheels and only used luggage straps and have had no problems. I guess everyones experience is a little different. Cooler with wheels is key in my opinion.

You got lucky, or the airport guys in the west are nicer than the ones in the east! Cheryl and I both lost luggage straps

I think the best way to look at it is if you take wheeled coolers then be prepared for the worst and if you end up getting the cooler to and from with wheels intact then it's a bonus.

Do you guys take down your Pop-Up Canopies every night and store them away or do you keep them up the whole weekend?

    Thanks!

Almost everyone leaves up, just make sure they're tied down well. If it's windy we drop them down a level or two to get them out of the wind.

DO NOT leave valuables out or in tent; lock in vehicle. And don't leave keys in tent.

Or know Russ.... That's my plan

Our EZ-Up came with some massive nail things to stake it into the ground. We physically could NOT pull these things out to save our own lives when it came time to break camp! Glad it was so secure, but this was bonkers... We ended up pouring water over them overnight and were able to pull things out in the morning before we left.

I messed up as a first-timer... Didn't buy camping tickets early enough! (terrace, gold, or premier, that is).

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a specific question? Check out the FAQ in my signature.

General Admission camping will not sell out. And Terrace/Premiere spots will pop up for sale as people's plans change.

Yeah, I saw that General Admission is still available. I was hoping for Terrace/Premier though...I will keep an eye out for new avails. Thanks for the advice!

I read through the FAQ a couple times too, really cool guide! Thanks!

Obviously check the ticketing forum here, check the Gorge 2015 thread, and there are several DMB ticket groups on facebook such as DMB ticket crew, DMB Ticket Swap. Another source is www.cashortrade.org It's still really early and people will have plans change. You might even have to wait until July or August, but they will pop up.

They always pop up, you just have to work at it a little bit! Whatever you do, don't panic and buy a general camping pass. They never sell out general camping, you can buy it at the gate (so you save shipping + fees) and if you buy one but then find a Premier or Terrace pass you will likely not recoup your costs.

I've got an extra Terrace Camping from LN, but since the Warehouse gave me all uppers for ATL and WPB I'm looking to trade it for great lowers to those shows, singles or pairs

Well both my coolers were damaged last year and as Liz said I lost luggage straps.

I took a cooler to key west in November and this time we popped the wheels off and put them in our duffel and put them back on at baggage claim....
