In retrospect I'm not sure what's so likable about Avatar. I didn't love it in theaters and I have no interest in rewatching it or any sequels. Maybe I'm in the minority though. It's just hard for me to acknowledge it was such a big blockbuster.

I can't name one character from Avatar, I asked a few friends who I know saw it and they also couldn't name one character.

Zero idea how it became such a huge movie.

It was when 3D was the new shiny penny.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was....a 3D CGI masterpiece that was basically Pocahontas/Fern Gully.

I don't think the sequels are going to come close to the same amount of money which is why I feel it was silly to do 4 sequels back to back.

BUT it is always a bad idea to bet against James Cameron.

Did you see it in 3D? The movie was filmed in 3D, most are converted in post production, and remains the best movie I’ve ever seen in 3D.

I’ll see the sequels just to have that 3D experience again.

Kind of feel like Avatar 2+ are a little late to the party. That ship may have sailed, James.

    I'm probably wrong.

Cameron did 3D correct like Nolan can use IMAX correct....both masters at the respective formats.

I don't remember where I saw it. But I do remember seeing it in theaters.

A good movie is a good movie regardless of whether it's 2D, 3D or 4D. My viewing dimension of it shouldn't matter.

Seeing AVATAR not in 3D is just silly.

I would argue that the 3D is the selling point of the movie.

Seeing Black Panther tonight (I'm super late in seeing it I know) to get ready for the Avengers Thursday in IMAX! Recently got moviepass and I'm planning to use it tonight for Black Panther. Anyone else use moviepass yet?

Seeing as Black Panther, which came out like two months ago, is one of the highest grossing movies of all time...

Interesting & popular are different. People still pay crazy amounts of money for a lot of things that are popular but they're not very interesting. I mean I really don't find Wal Mart or McDonalds interesting or unique

Black Panther was one of the best movies Marvel has produced. You could argue some of the best movies in this line have actually come out the last few years (Black Panther, GOTG2, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Thor: Ragnarok).

So yes, they're still very, very interesting with heavy, heavy interest going in.

I'd be willing to say that Marvel is more popular now than it has been in the last 5-10 years. There is some fatigue but Disney handles it well IMO and is still producing some quality movies. They're not award winning depth but they're entertaining.

That’s like saying there’s too many dramas or too many comedies.

I enjoy MCU movies because they usually do a pretty good job of telling an individual story while simultaneously weaving it into a larger narrative. Honestly this type of story telling hasn’t really been done in cinema. Show me another studio who told a story over 22 films.

There are a lot of superhero films in general, but I don’t see every single film. For instance if you think Suicide Squad is bad why would that prevent you from enjoying Deadpool?

I was getting Marvel fatigue. Did not like Ant Man, Spiderman Homecoming, or Avengers 2. Thought that GotG2, Civil War, and Dr. Strange were all completely overrated.

It wasn't until Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther came out when I got back into MCU. They really rejuvenated my interested in the universe. So now I am pumped for this movie.

You don’t need to see anything, but it be extremely helpful to see Civil War. It’s where they introduce the character, and Black Panther takes place about a week later.

Edit: honestly if you’re willing to give it a shot and put in the time. I’d watch Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Black Panther. Winter Soldier sets up Civil War and isn’t a CGI slugfest more of a espionage/political thriller.

    I agree with this.

But as for seeing anything else, they kinda recap Panther's introduction during the movie from Civil War anyway, which makes it have more standalone power.

one of the more comforting things I've seen from the early Twitter reactions, someone pointing out that for those people who are wary of taking in too much of the trailers or the (at this point) abundance of :20-:30 TV spots, rest assured you still know practically nothing of this movie.

I've wondered about this. Several of the scenes they play up like the final battle but the longer I sit on that the less I believe it. Since they did so much run around to keep anything from leaking I feel like most of those scenes are first act and shot just for trailer material.

I woke up this morning and it occurred to me that today is the last day I'd ever go without having seen Infinity War. Ten years of movies leading up to this one event. Pretty crazy.
